In the early 60's Hughes purchased 5 of the largest hotels in LV. He also later purchased 27,000 acres of desert so far from downtown that everyone absolutely knew he was crazy.

Years later he named this isolated acreage after his grandmother........

Amelia Summerlin.

(Today Summerlin is a large city unto itself, with thousands of homes, hotels, casinos, golf courses.
One of my favorite places to gamble is the Suncoast. The JW Marriott is next door.)

I like going to Primm - not real fancy but they have two really good golf courses - just don't try to travel there on a Sunday it's a traffic nightmare with folks heading back to California
