That's because when all the NCAA dust has settled UNCheats men's bball program will be relatively untouched. The powers that be in NC will sell their first borns to protect their beloved bball team.

This. Clemson should have gotten the SMU treatment. To me UNC players received extra benefits in the worst way. Credit for fake classes is way worse than making money from selling a jersey or signing an autograph
UNC gave good grades to athletes to keep them elegible. Championships were won.

That punishment didn't exist when CU's sanctions were handed-down. Clemson's heretofore unparalleled cheating to win the MNC inspired the NCAA to create the death penalty.
That ship has sailed. The NCAA is essentially toothless now, especially with schools like UNC.
Yes they should have gotten the death penalty, if for no other reason to counter this illusion, that carries on today with the tater faithful, that they are an elite program.
