Has anyone here made the trip to Oxford and, if so, where did the Carolina fans / team stay? I'm guessing somewhere in Memphis but thought I would check here. Taking the road trip with my son so want to get the plans right. Thanks.

Not a lot of hotels in Oxford, I would look to see if anything is available. Closest town with a good number of hotels is Tupelo. (Only 45 minutes) but that is east of Oxford. If you are into gambling you could stay in one of the Casinos in Tunnica MS. They used to have bus that would drive you too and from the game. Memphis has some really good BBQ places. Oxford is great little college town. Lot great places to eat on The square.

I made the trip and Tupelo turned out to be an excellent place to stay. If I'm driving, I always try to stay at a venue that's headed for home when I get up on Sunday. Tupelo fits well.

Made the trip years ago, back when Ole Miss had Eli Manning. We were getting killed and made a great comeback only to be ripped off by a safety call when Dondrial Pinkins intentionally grounded the ball. But he was clearly around the 1 yard line when he threw it. If they had replay back then we probably win that one. That year we stayed in Tunica. The game was an 11:00 am kick and it wasn’t bad getting there. There will likely be a bus full of fans headed to the game from the casinos. The casinos are nice as well. Was a great trip.

43-40 was the final iirc. We were trading TDs with them til we got ripped off by the horrible safety call like you said. Then we started getting pounded til we began a furious comeback sparked by Daccus Turman doing the thing where you roll over when getting tackled, never go down and get back up and run. We fell just a little short in the end. Very frustrating

Staying in Tunica on Thursday, playing some roulette, then driving to Oxford the next morning and we rented an Airbnb right on campus.

Thanks for the info. I ended up booking a hotel in Memphis since we'tr flying in / out there. I called the football office today and the person with whom I spoke said that she had not been told where the team was staying - I'm guessing Memphis because of the number of rooms needed. See you in the Grove.

We try to make two away games every year. This year it's Ole Miss and Kentucky.
We're renting a house about five miles outside of Oxford. Couldn't find a hotel close that was affordable. Looking forward to the experience. I also looked into The Grove tailgating and there are several companies that will secure a spot for you and set up the tailgate, complete with TV and catered food. It is a little expensive. If anyone else is thinking about doing this, you should probably consider a large group to divide the cost.

It's a racket. They have a lot of people who contract them to do the whole season. There were at least three companies offering this service last time I was down there.

I remember with such detail because I was covering it for the Daily Gamecock. Somewhere I still have my notebook where I'm taking notes on the action and then there's just this string of expletives &#(@*$(!@)!
