OT: chicken shortage

I find this interesting. I've completely stopped carrying cash for some time now - I can count on one hand the times I've used it in the last three years. I've always thought I was "normal" and that most people had shifted that way.

As a banker, is that what you're seeing (i.e., more people going cashless)? A coin shortage completely surprises me simply because I can't imagine enough people using them.
I might be part of the problem.I mostly use my card,I don’t have cash normally, but when I do use it and I get change back, all it does is sit in my truck.I got at least $15 in change in it.About the only time I get cash is when I go golfing, cheaper to pay cash than a card and when I pay for something at home and my kids give me cash back. When I have some cash I’ll use it and when I get the change back it goes in the cup holder.

Hahaha! My plan has worked. I have a garage with ten deep freezers full of chicken wings, and 12 50-gallon drums filled to the top with coins. If I could only find a place to store all this TP I've been buying. Let me think...

Maybe that is the problem. With more people not using cash and coins, it essentially puts all they have in their houses out of circulation. I didn't even think of that. I'm sure I have tons of loose change all around the house that won't see the light of day because I'll never use it.

So is it our civic duty to go to the coinstar machine at Publix and put that back in circulation? I think it could be.

I try and make exact change so I don’t get any back when I do use cash but I get a crazy look sometimes when I give 10.37 in stead of just the 10 when I owe 8.37...

Tried that once. Blew the cashier's mind. Had to explain it to her. Haven't bothered with it since.

I was in a training class last week. The guy took us to lunch every day. Last Thursday, we were at lunch and he asked the waitress for an itemized receipt. He may as well have asked her to explain the theory of relativity. She had no clue as to what he was talking about.

Cheaper to pay cash for golf instead of card? I haven't seen that at courses. Interesting.

Persimmon Hill was offering to play for $20 if u had cash,$25 if paid by card.I think they have done away with it from what I’ve been told.Indian Trail in Batesburg is $26($20 for sr’s)during the week but if you pay by card it’s a couple dollars more to offset the card charge they have to pay.they started this last year .I play with the sr guys on Tuesday/Thursday mornings when I can, only played 5 times so far this year.guys from coopers creek play there also and I play with the old guys from boogieville .

Notthwoods used to do the same thing. You’d get a $5 discount for using cash.

If these items are in short supply it can be traced to the source and probably a shortage of workers due to what they are making to stay at home. Im also hearing there may be a shortage of truck drivers.
Bingo......that is why. Chickens didn’t stop populating overnight.....there is always roosters in the hen house 😀.

Way back when I really started playing (25-30yrs ago) you could regularly find great coupons in the newspaper for local courses. No more though.

One of my most enjoyable days of golf EVER was on a “play all day for $20” deal at Hillcrest in Orangeburg (fun little public course, btw). A buddy and I got in 54 holes that day! Weather was perfect, and I played some great golf (for me!) that day.

Gas shortage, chicken shortage, lumber shortage, chip shortage, truck shortage, chlorine shortage, do we see a pattern here? Entering into the socialist stage.
It can happen here...
