Any Gamecocks living in the DC area? I was thinking about bringing my family up to DC for Spring Break until my dad said you better check the covid restrictions. What are they? Can we eat at a restaurant without being forced to wear masks? Can we tour the area if none of us are vaxxed?

Don’t live there but I’d imagine that most cities have all but given up the mandates. Maybe New York City and San Fran but I would guess anywhere else you would be good at this point.

I was up there a few weeks ago.

Everyone wears a mask all the time up there, even outside on the sidewalk although there is not specific law requiring it. You do have to wear them on the subway and other public transit (Federal Law) and I think you have to wear it indoors at museums.

Some restaurants will ask you to provide proof of vaccination or they will not seat you.

My recommendation is do as the locals do and be prepared to wear a mask. DC got hit hard with the Omicron variant, you wont get much sympathy if you go up there with the attitude that you're going to be an asshole about not wearing the mask.

Go reread the rest of my post...

As I said, in DC everyone wears a mask everywhere. The expectation is that anyone visiting also wears a mask. If wearing a mask is a problem for you, then I would not recommend visiting DC right now. Plenty other areas of the county that arent as stringent about mask wearing that would love your tourism dollars.

And for the record, I dont care if you wear one or not. I feel like its a personal choice.

Yea, I talked to several AirB&B people and they said it was more strict than what is being described by gamecock engineer. We wont be going to DC. We are not going to wear a mask and get that shot and arent gonna deal with the idiocy of the folks in the area. Will go another time perhaps.

Spring break still a touch early for DC anyways if you ask me….sign me up for South FL in early April!

As I understand it, if you are a visitor, things aren't bad.

I would guess by spring break, things will be more relaxed as most of their requirements are set to expire at the end of Feb.

They will find another reason to continue the mask and vax requirements. Government never gives back freedoms that it is allowed to take.
