When Gavin MacLeod of the old Mary Tyler Moore Show died on May 29, Ed Asner (Lou Grant) tweeted his "heartbreak" over losing his "brother", saying "Gavin, I'll join you in a bit. Tell the gang I'll be joining them in a bit". He went on to tweet: "Betty, it's just you and me now".

Asner was an iconic TV actor and, from all accounts, a really, really good person. RIP, Ed Asner.

He played a great crusty, yet benign boss on MTM! He had some other roles in tv shows and was always grumpy. Seems I remember a role where he was named “Bear”. RIP sir.
