OT: Ed Bearss gone @ 97...

Such a great man. I hope he is buried at Arlington with honors. The great majority of Americans came to know him through Ken Burn’s Civil War. He was a decorated soldier, a devoted husband, and a thoughtful academic. He found his niche not in academia but in the national parks system making the War accessible and understandable to all. Every year he gave an extended day long battle field tour to deaf and blind students. Said it was the most engaging, difficult and rewarding event of his year
