Most likely, the greatest open field runner of all time! Will never forget the night I first watched Brian's Song, if I'm not mistaken it was a TV movie that was later released at theaters, probably the first TV movie to ever do that!

Always a big event when Chicago was on tv back then; Sayers was electric. Did not realize he only played 4 years.

4 full seasons. One season he played 9 games. 2 other seasons he played 2 games each with just a handful of rushes. He basically made it into the HOF on the weight of 5 seasons.

He was electrifying. Had his career cut short by a major knee injury. I often wonder how many more great years he could have enjoyed had he had access to today's surgical techniques. I wonder that same thing about a lot of athletes from decades ago.

Great athlete, and even a greater person. When people refer to high class, Sayers was exhibit A
