OT: Has anyone seen the new Beatles documentary? Reviews?

I started watching it but only made it 30 minutes or so. Just them working on songs, which was cool, but I couldn't get into it at the time. Checked to see how long part one was and didn't feel like watching 2 hours right then

It is a lot of studio and jamming and fooling around trying to rehearse for a supposed gig. A lot of incite on their characters. It is long and will put you in snooze territory.

I woke up at 5:30 each morning an episode came out to watch it. I loved it, but I’m a musician and a huge Beatles fan. It’s great seeing them interact with each other and the comradery between them. Some great insight on their relationships at the time. On the other hand, if you’re a casual fan and don’t enjoy the jamming and musicianship, I could see it getting old after an hour or so

i haven`t but I cannot wait to see it! Don`t have Disney + but it was bad timing over the holidays. I will get it when it comes out on DVD. I probably will watch the whole thing - 6 hours or so - from start to finish. I`m a Beatles/Stones freak so nothing by them will be boring to me.

Do they cover Lennon signing the papers to break up the band from the Polynesian Resort at Disney World?

I've watched the first two episodes. It's long but great. Now I understand much better what happened with the breakup. One thing it does show for sure, Paul McCartney is a frigging musical genius.

You would be surprised as to how off base many are regarding John's breaking up the band. I watched all 3 episodes and I will agree with some here......if you are a casual fan of the Beatles, you will fall asleep watching it. However, for those of us who grew up with them, this documentary was very insightful. So regarding leaving the band........it comes out during one of the episodes that Ringo was the first to walk away, then came back. Then, George left for over a week in the middle of this documentary because even though he was a prolific songwriter, to him the Beatles were the John and Paul show. John was a team player throughout this whole documentary and I have even greater respect for him now. I know a year later he broke up the band but by that time, everyone was going in separate directions. Paul was always my favorite Beatle but as this documentary shows, he was a control freak and tried to guide the band to the point of resentment from the others, especially from George. John just went along for the ride, had fun, worked hard on the songs and was very laid back. However, I kept waiting for him to crack and throw something at Paul lol ! I learned a couple of things.....Ringo can play the piano and George can play the drums. Yoko was not disruptive to the band. And the rooftop session almost got them arrested.

I watched every bit of it over thanksgiving weekend. It was great! So many legendary moments caught on film. Must watch for a Beatles fan or anyone who wants to travel back to 1969
