OT: How to make a the world a better place

If one isn't a Democrat they are a racists.

Not necessarily, but if a person is racist they're almost always a Republican.

Don't like that stereotype? Get people like Steve King (R) out of office.

“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive? Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?” Mr. King said in an interview with The New York Times published last week.

Thanks for proving my point that I made earlier in regards to the Southern Strategy proposed by Lee Atwater.

You're the exact type of disgruntled person the RNC targeted by essentially telling them to vote against their own interests because it will hurt the black population more.

So if I take your beliefs I'm going to start thinking every Democrat is like this;

You are obviously Liberal, so it is okay for you to atttack... As a mattter of fact, this is the New Fundamentally changed Socialist Democratic party that we were promised back in 2008. If you cant stand on Merits, Accomplishments or Platform, Attack your opponent as being Racist, Sexist, Homophobic, etc etc etc..

Why don't you comment on the quote by Republican Congressman Steve King rather than link a right wing blog?

This is part of the problem... the crowd that usually spent their time falling for Nigerian prince schemes while waiting for their monthly disability checks are now falling for Click Bait articles in Facebook echo chambers. "You'll NeVeR BeLieVe WhaT HappeNed Next to TheSe ConSerVatives! CliCK NoW"

The internet is too complicated for the masses. Hopefully their free 50 hour AOL CDs expire soon.

I'm simply chatting with other Gamecocks in a fairly lighthearted manor.
Why don't YOU comment on the quote (that you brought up) by a Republican Congressman if you are trying to cherry pick your stereotype? Because one idiot gets elected to congress and says something stupid; now you are going to embolden a stereotype that all Republicans are racist/sexist/'insert negative label here'

You want to talk about echo chambers? Go visit a site like Reddit. Every political group has their own echo chambers that the average member hides behind. Cherry picking a quote from a specific congressman and wrapping it around a whole group of people as if it's their beliefs as well is exactly what someone in an echo chamber would do.

It's painfully obvious you've already got your established stereotypes and choose to let your statements be filled with it.
That's nothing different than the actual racist Republicans that champion Trump as their savior.

As soon as you get to that level and choose not to look at problems in a different light; you've lost complete empathy for a different group of people with difference of opinions and it's worthless to even have a discussion.

That IS the problem. No one can have a discussion anymore without bringing emotion, stereotypes, or false facts into the mix. An opinion has already been formed and will not change regardless of actual true facts or compelling information someone else might have to say.

I simply want legislators and leaders who will put the United States first. I don't care what color they are. I am all for immigration done legally and not just crossing the border to get on the dole. I am for every American who is able to work, get a job and off public assistance. I am for those who need assistance to get it at a level they can actually live. Seniors having to choose between food and medicine is ridiculous. I am for religious freedom but it works both ways. I am for everyone having the right to a good education. How they get it is up to them. I pay for them to go to school up to the 12th grade, the rest is on them. I believe in a health care system that is fair. One where I am not overcharged to pay for someone who won't support themselves. I am against cradle to grave government handouts.

I suppose like the Buffet song (Pirate looks at 40) , I was born too late. The ideals I have are from the 20's or 30's when a mans word was his bond. The color of a man's skin isn't important but the character inside him is. I am for calling a racist a racist be he black, white, green or red. I am for term limits on Congress and to make them subject to our retirement and health care laws.

Before you ask, I voted for Trump while holding my nose. I didn't trust Hillary. You may rest assured I will vote for him again. His results speak for themselves. Lowest unemployment in a long time, Companies coming back to the US. I will be called Trumpster, racist or worse for these views. I just call them common sense.

This post has gotten personal for some and way out of the stuff on a normal sports forum. So to make my post relevant. Go Gamecocks.

Nope.

I think you mean that as a jest, but truth is I didn't vote for Trump and still I don't categorize those who voted for him as anything other than Americans with different views than mine.

I know good people who voted for Trump and good people who voted for Hilary, and good people who said to hell with all of it and didn't vote. Those who voted for Trump are no more deplorable than those who voted for Hilary are snowflake wingnuts. Calling someone names doesn't make it so, it only makes those who do the name calling appear childish at best.

FYI, I couldn't vote for either main party candidate, so I voted for the libertarian, even though I don't agree with much of their platform -- but he seemed the most honorable choice among the three.

The optimist in me hopes we have a better choice this election. The realist in me is afraid we won't.

Go Gamecocks.

I prefer humans that want to help humans and make things better for other humans, and animals & children.

My confidence in our political system is dangerously close to zero and has been trending down since the early 90’s.

I prefer humans making things better for themselves without making other humans lives more difficult in the process.
