If your traveling on I20 expect delays a trooper was in a shooting and the whole interstate is shut down.

Specifically where? I want to know a specific area and not a

mile marker #, which means nothing to me.

hey chick....mile markers in south carolina are about dead on with exits..........so if someone said mile marker 95, its within a few miles of the chapin exit...in otherwords exit 90 is right near, if not, mile marker 90.....hope that helps some

I know that, USA. I'm well aware of the numbering of exits with

the mile of the interstate. What I'm NOT familiar with is where on that continuum the exit mile is. I don't know without pulling out a map what mile marker Chapin is. But I do know where Chapin is in relation to the town/city/road name.

If the guy on the radio says, "Wreck on I-85 mile marker ###," I have no idea where he is talking about unless he also adds the direction and "near the ### exit."

Does that explain why I asked? I'm glad some of you have memorized the exact miles of the interstates in SC, but I imagine I'm not the only one in the state who has not. And if I'm driving or about the get on the named interstate/street/road, it would be helpful to know whether I should get off and get out of the traffic or take a different route.

And the poster wrote simply "I-20 East." That covers a lot of territory.

A 'thank you' probably would have worked, but oh well.

Another shooting? Where are all these people who shouldn't be having guns getting them from?

Just install the SCDOT 511 app on your phone - then, you can see all incidents/construction warnings/cameras and not have to get your panties in a wad about areas vs mile markers.

I do have that, and it's helpful. I just did not see it when he reported

the incident.

In some ways true, Cack, but the post he made seemed to be

pretty didactic. Sorry if you felt I over-reacted. I travel on I-20 and 26 pretty frequently and have the app and all of that, but sometimes it takes awhile to update. I know also that radio hosts only have what callers let them know, but, as I posted, just hearing a mile marker means nothing to me unless I'm from the area.
