Yes but if the victims families wanted to avoid a trial they should have gone for the death penalty and told him - plead guilty if you want to avoid the death penalty.I understand it's his job. It's also his job to respect and take into account the wishes of his victims.
He is not eligible for parole he has 2 life sentences based on what the judge said you only get one life so he will serve his time in SCDOC for the remainder of his natural life which means forever.Wonder where he will do his life sentence? I’m guessing he’s eligible for parole since I didn’t hear anything saying “life without parole”?
