For you Nascar fans, long time Nascar reporter passed away today after battling cancer. He was one of the best and was well liked by all. Was watching a tribute to him on the Nascar website, and they showed a brief clip of him reporting many moons ago at a Carolina Football game from Williams Brice Stadium. Wikipedia says that he once worked as a sports reporter here in Charleston for WCIV. Perhaps some of you older Charlestonians remember him.

Race at Bristol Sunday was a tribute to him. As they broadcast the race, they talked as if he was watching it all. I did not realize he was that close to death. Too bad. Really good guy.

Oh my gosh that was fast! What type of cancer did he have & when was he first diagnosed with it? He was still pit reporting last season.

Recurrence of head and neck cancer diagnosed in Sept 2014, so yes, he was working last season. First on-air job was in Charleston in 1982 at WCIV.
