Our major men's teams are so mediocre- at best- now that

the main sports threads on here not dealing with a clearly ineffective baseball coach are all about women's basketball and the team's new transfer.
Everybody loves a winner and that's all we got right now.
If our football team had won 10 plus games again last fall (and not farted away all those 4th quarter leads) and if our baseball team was in contention for a top 8 seed (instead of in danger of not even making the conference tourney) then I suspect threads would look different here.

I sure wish we had Hyman back, he at least demanded accountability. Sorry, might not be what most want to hear, but it is true.

I'd NEVER wish that double-standard Hyman back. Ray Tanner's got a lot to deal with right now but I'd take his character and class over Eric Hyman ANY day!

Because I have watched the collapse of our football and baseball teams and have yet to see anything that leads me to believe that they will get better in the short-run. I am not an insider at the university and, as I said, it might not be a popular opinion; however, I made the statement and will stick with it.

How do you know what Tanner is demanding and not demanding? Let me guess you know a guy who has a cousin that has a friend....
You can do the unthinkable and read what Tanner said about men's sports this year. Here's a cheat sheet - everything is great!

So what do you propose he do? Fire Spurrier and Holbrook? I'm sure it would be easy to find someone to come and coach our coach after you fire the winningest coach in school history. People would be knocking down the doors to come coach here.

So are we getting on Tanner's case because he hasn't fired Holbrook during the middle of the season? Give the man a chance to do his job. I'm just trying to understand why all of a sudden we miss Hyman. This was the guy that talked about Odom's warchest of credibility and gave an extension to Darrin Horn....yes Darrin Horn.

"collaspe of our football and baseball teams..."

Our football team and our baseball team have NOT collasped! It's called having a bad year. It happens to ALL programs. If you can't see things that show they may turn around then you are refusing to look very hard. Don't understand the feeling of some on here that our programs are not allowed off years.

'Sticking with" an absurd statement that you can't substantiate doesn't make it less absurd.

Actually I agree that there is nothing that can be done to Spurrier or Holbrook at this point in time. With respect to Spurrier, I agree that we need to see what the new defensive coach will bring; however, it is evident that for at least the last two years, our recruiting has fallen off which, in the end, is on the head coach. Like him or not, Dabo has out worked Spurrier in that department. The baseball team is just a dumpster fire and I too will await the outcome of the season. But if you follow this board, there is sentiment that both coaches have failed a long the way and that there has been a reduction in overall quality in both programs. I work in a large Fortune 500 organization where the maintenance of a return on the stockholder investment is monitored constantly. If there is some slippage in the department for a quarter or two, questions arise and the deficiency is addressed. I hope that Tanner has been more attentive than I think, but at this point in time, projections for the next season in football do not point to an 11 win season and in baseball, we are not going anywhere.. Not all opinions are absurd, though I will admit that i can not substantiate anything that Tanner has done with respect to these coaches. Probably little at this point. I wish some of you could have a discussion instead of turning it into a personal attack.

"collapse?"

Yes collapse. What would you call it? Did you even read my post above or did you just seize the moment with something you read before you got through the thread. Do you just want to be confrontational or do you know how to disagree with a point? I could easily say you are ignorant and just leave it at that.
