Yes, we are not going after him. But a pretty big story here in the upstate

I don't think we made his top 10 from 12 teams, a while back. As Jeff Said we are all about Delp, I believe the depth we have at TE currently allows us to swing for the fences for Delp at this moment.

if we were still recruiting Skinner hard, I would not feel good about the move to IMG, but we are not, so oh well, good luck to the young man, he is closer to Miami and FSU now, 2 of his top 5.

I am interested in Skinner as he has taken an official visit to Texas and it went well. We made a final five list, although probably not leading. Skinner announced the five schools left in his recruitment on Wednesday, and the Longhorns made the cut. Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Texas, and Clemson are the finalists. Might be one of the recruits joining the SEC would help with.

USC went after Skinner. In fact I think that USC was his first Power 5 offer back when he was a sophomore. But apparently he had no interest and USC gave up that chase long ago.

Interesting....the Byrnes players who were 4-5 stars never ventured to Florida.

Don't know what the attraction to IMG is...he could've played at Byrnes and played in one of the best conferences of high school football in America...

How could he have played at Byrnes?

How likely is Delp? Everything I have seen says 75-80% projection for UGA.
IMHO we stand a good chance of getting Delp.

Not hardly.

The facilities and program at IMG is much better, it’ll prepare a player who puts in the effort more for college.

Now, that said, will it make a difference for him? I’ve been told he looks physically impressive, but his play doesn’t match his looks.

Skinner is no longer being recruited by Clemson. Delp is TE#1 on the board ( long shot.. UGA most likely or possibly SC). Next TE for Clemson is Josh Sapp (legacy but still good athlete). TE is not an overwhelming need at Clemson this year. It will be interesting how Skinner does at IMG with the quality of the other players there. He has some developing to do

You know how. Any kid can play for any public school they want these days. I saw a kid over twitter “commit” to playing football at Dorman next year. It was refreshing because at least this kid was owning it.

But between Greer and Byrnes? The safest place during that game used to be on the field.....they H-A-T-E each other or at least used to.

Skinner aside, I hate that these kids just leave their teammates and go to IMG. I get it. And it might be good for their future. But man…so many people look back on their careers and talk about how High School Football was the most pure form of football they played. These kids want to grow up too fast and these business have capitalized by providing them the opportunity to do so.

IMG plays, but it’s hardly high school football. They aren’t even eligible to win anything in the state of Florida.

He's from the area of Greer that kids can go to either Byrnes or Greer...Sunnyside/SunnyGlen area...kids in those neighborhoods go to either...I drove a school bus when I was in high school at Byrnes, and my route was Greer in the Watkins Farm/Bennett's Bridge area...There were kids that went to Byrnes/Riverside and even JL Mann in that area...I drove into Greenville County and turned around at Anderson Ridge Rd which was Mann's district. I would meet up with the JL Mann School bus and we would give each other the finger as Mann was one of our biggest rivals at that time...

Kids that live in Eastern Greenville County and Western Spartanburg County...usually go to Byrnes, Riverside, Greer, or one of the private schools, Christ Church...

Most people may not be aware, but Greer keeps expanding and is close to running up to the Duncan city limits on Highway 290 (Poinsett Highway) which is where Byrnes is located. I could see Greer taking over Duncan and Lyman in the near future....

Another little tidbit many from the upstate may not know...

The Greenville Spartanburg Airport sits in none other than "James F. Byrnes School District"...
along with the BMW plant and all that industry and FED EX airport terminal....sit on that one Greer Yellow Jacket Fans/ Riverside Warrior Fans....

Maybe we should call GSP...the James F. Byrnes Airport....

Really? Wow, they couldn't when I went to Greer. I lived in Woodland Forest which is closer...and we couldn't go to Byrnes. The line was a bit further down 29....forgot the name of the road but its where the Tuck & Howell AC building used to be on 29.

Hampton Rd behind the old BILO building to 357 back to Wade Hampton and then towards Lyman is where one of our bus routes was...One route back before Greer built the new high school and it may still be there is the Greer Country Club...I backed up a bus that had broken down and went out to pick up the kids. It went just inside the Greenville County line there and then back towards Zoar and back on 357 to Wade Hampton back towards Lyman...

I’m not sure about Greenville County’s stipulations now, but my sister went to Southside High School because they had an IB program at that time. They lived a few minutes from Eastside High School. All that aside, I read that Skinner wants to be a receiver in college, instead of a tight end. All accounts are we recruited and offered him, but it seems he wasn’t interested. I wish him all the best.

Have never seen the new Greer High eventhough I attended the 30th reunion of my class....it was held at Greer CC which had also changed quite a bit from when I used to go there a lot.

I don’t think it’s going to matter if Greer expands into those areas because they are in Spartanburg County and so technically those kids would go to Spartanburg schools as opposed to Greenville County schools.

But as I mentioned in the above post we are basically living in a time period of high school free agency. Even more so than colleges. These kids and parents could care less about school boundaries and the SCHSL lacks the balls to step in and do something.

My old neighborhood, Woodland Forest, is in Spartanburg County and at least since the early 1970s the kids living there went to Greer. Believe that Hwy 14 at least along that stretch was the County line.

Yeah I’m sure there’s some border hopping and in some cases it makes sense. I don’t have a problem with a kid going to a school that’s 5 miles away but outside the county than going to a “home school” 15 miles away in county. Those are matters of convenience and understandable. We have kids transferring and committing to high schools now. Crap is out of control.

Greer is 60% Greenville County and 40% Spartanburg County....Greer will grow further into Spartanburg County if it incorporates Duncan/Lyman to be about 50-50...

Spartanburg County line coming off Hwy 14 runs to about Pelham Rd in Greenville...If the kids in the Pelham area around the village of Pelham and the big hospital there on Pelham want to come to Byrnes they should be able too but it's divided...the hugely expensive area of Abner Creek to across I-85 is in Spartanburg County....It's split down the middle with Byrnes & Riverside...

What's interesting about Byrnes is, you get a feel of it being a truly Greenville/Spartanburg school that you can't get at any other school in the upstate. Being off I-85, with the district running to almost Pelham Rd in Greenville, and on the eastern end where it meet's Dorman's school district off Reidville Rd. in Spartanburg to Hwy 357 past Zoar and up to Lyman Lake on Jordan road to Greer/Blue Ridge...it's just incredible the size of the district.

From the map, our district borders these schools: Chapman to the north, Dorman to the east, Woodruff to the southeast, Riverside & JL Mann to the south, and Greer/Blue Ridge to the west.

Of those schools mentioned, only Dorman has the firepower to keep up with the Rebels on the football field.

When I was in school in the early 80's, Greer/Byrnes was one of the biggest in the upstate outside of Spartanburg/Dorman or Spartanburg/Gaffney in football...

Our biggest rivalry in Basketball was JL Mann...in both boys/girls...

After Byrnes hit it's growth spirt with BMW and all the industry, the sports teams just exploded. Bobby Bentley came on the scene and built the powerhouse of what Byrnes was to become.

I would say Byrnes is still the GOLD standard for High School football in SC....damn i'm biased...

Skinner already told people that he wanted to be the next Pitts. He won't play for Clemson if he won't block because Elliott rather see a 5* running back blocking vs running 35yds down the sideline. He sure wont play a TE if he doesn't want to block.

That said, something happened between Florida and Skinner, not sure if they out recruited or what? I fell out of love with him based on comments about his play right before recruiting opened up. But once Florida broke up with him he went to FSU as their ace.

Today, I have no clue as to what's up because I think he learned he was being too primadonna like and I think Clemson got their TE, or maybe that was last year??

But anyway, I think Skinner is an asset for whoever gets him, but I think he is one season away from the Transfer Portal for whoever gets him. If he doesn't get to be the next Pitts in his mind, he transfers, gets a reality check, then becomes a great college player. That's my 25cents worth. I was high on him until recruiting opened up.

Just left Greer high didnt see coach Young. I will talk to him about it in the next couple of weeks. There were players already there lifting weights this morning before 7.

Since we are talking upstate football. Lukus just committed to clemson cant blame him. Beamer called him or his high school coach every week to try to get him to come down to Columbia for a visit. Plus, I know for a fact ,Beamer called Collin Sadler or his dad every week trying to get Collin to come down for a visit eventho he is committed to clemson. I work for the district and there is not a lot that goes on I dont hear about including jealous husbands beating up assistant principals in the parking lot . 😅 And the local media calling it a " personal dispute" .

Good to see Will Young is doing well. Had several old friends who were worried that he wouldn't recover from his kidney disease.
