Can't link the article from GG, but Jy'Vonte McLendon charged with felony shooting into an occupied vehicle in Florida, facing up to 15 years in prison. 😒

This appears to be a very unfortunate incident that all details are not clear on. From the articles coming out of Florida, JM was with his mother in her vehicle and they were involved in an apparent road rage incident where the driver of the other vehicle appeared to be making an attempt to use her vehicle to hit JM mother. He retrieved his mother's firearm from her purse and fired a shot at the driver's windshield to try and make her leave the scene. Very sad story but if true I'd protect my mother at all costs as well for damn sure!

I was going to make a joke and say "I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation." Then I saw your post and thought....dang, maybe there was. He may have not made the right choice, but if true what a tough spot to be in.

He was charged. The other driver was not. The altercation was over but he and some others in the car went back to the woman. According to The State the other driver was attempting to get away from the guy when he shot into her car windshield right in front of her. A gun just materialized in his hand at the exact moment his mother needed protecting. That doesn't pass the smell test. I'll bet he already had the gun when he went back to the other woman. Apparently, the police thought the same since he was charged and she wasn't.

I'm not sure it is the wrong choice if this is legit. Ramming your car into another is attempted murder, wouldn't that make it lawful self defense? Nothing else you can do but try to evade it hope you survive.

Are you blaming him for being attacked? If what was said is true, he's a victim if attempted murder. I was ready to go making assumptions but after that explanation, I'm gonna see what comes out before I judge him prematurely any more.

I saw 5 years max and a fine as he was charged with a 3rd degree felony.
This is a quote from the article I couldn't link:

Shooting into an occupied vehicle is classified as a second-degree felony, according to Florida statute 790.19. If guilty, a second-degree felony in Florida is punishable by up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000, according to Goldman Wetzel.

Granted, I haven't read any follow-up articles, so the fact on the ground could've been updated since then.

So he shot through the dash and it came out the speedometer? He wasn't shooting to scare anybody. He was shooting to kill. Probably going away for a long time.
