Practice observations: defensive line rotations, freshmen in the offensive two-deep

Media were able to watch the first 15 minutes of the team's practice today and, while there wasn't too much to glean from it, here are a few things I picked up watching from the sideline:

--Rico Dowdle and Jam Williams were back in practice but in yellow non-contact jerseys. They were able to do some work in practice that doesn't involve getting hit. Eldridge Thompson was also in yellow jersey but he's been in that all spring and going through non-contact work. He's still waiting for his sixth year to be officially approved but the staff is very confident in it.

--Like Coleman Hutzler said earlier this week, Collin Bunch was the first team long snapper on field goal team with Joseph Charlton holding. Parker White was with the first team unit with Alex Woznick second-team along with Bailey Hart holding for him.

--Bryan McClendon was working with the punt returners during the special teams portion of practice and these were the guys I saw working with him: Bryan Edwards, Jam Williams, Jaycee Horn, Shi Smith and Josh Vann.

--The team did some shell work offensively where you could see first/second team reps doing some Eleven personnel.

First team offensive skill reps: Jake Bentley, Shi Smith, Josh Vann, Bryan Edwards, AJ Turner, Kiel Pollard/Will Register.

Second team offensive skill reps: Dakereon Joyner/Ryan Hillinski, Bailey Hart, Chad Terrell, Keshawn Toney/Evan Hinson, Randrecous Davis, Kevin Harris

First team D-line: D.J. Wonnum, Aaron Sterling, Kobe Smith, Rick Sandidge
First-team linebackers: Ernest Jones, Sherrod Greene, Eldridge Thompson
First-team secondary: Jaycee Horn, Israel Mukuamu, J.T. Ibe, Jam Williams, R.J. Roderick

Second-team D-line: J.J. Enagbare, Brad Johnson, Jabari Ellis, Devontae Davis
Second-team linebackers: Zay Brown, Spencer Eason-Riddle, Damani Staley
Second-team secondary: Jamel Cook, Jaylan Foster, Kevin Pickens, Jaylin Dickerson

Other defensive line pairing: Joseph Anderson, Griffin Gentry, Keir Thomas, Rodricus Fitten

--Ibe was working mostly with at the nickel spot with Williams and Roderick the first-team safeties. Devontae Davis is working at the tackle spot.

--I left impressed with Jaylen Nichols, who looks the part as a freshman right now and can really, really move for a guy around 300 pounds.
