We are ranked no 44. Nine SEC teams are ranked above us. Clemson not in the top 50. They are the 1st team in others receiving votes. Will we ever get the program back to where it was the last 5 years of the Tanner era?

A preseason poll for college baseball? May be the most worthless thing ever put to paper. Every year those polls change in dramatic fashion within the first few weeks.

You can always tell the people who didn't follow baseball in the past. We were preseason #45 in the USA Today coaches poll back in 2009 and finished in the top 25. The next year we started 28th in Collegiate Baseball and won the national championship.

It's not as gloom and doom as it appears.

Agree....and the different polls vary greatly. It wasn't long ago when you used to see 6 or more ACC schools in the top 10 of one poll....it didn't last long.

Yeah preseason polls are pretty much meaningless. You almost have to play for a month to get a sense of where you're at. Even then, teams get hot and cold at varying times in the year. Get to a regional, get hot (or stay hot), see what happens.

RT had some talent for sure, but he was the best at pushing the right buttons at the right time. Some coaches have it, some don't. Hopefully Kingston has it.

Jesus, for real. It felt like forever that we always had baseball to lean back on as a sport to see us in the top 10. It was more shocking to see us outside of the top 10 than in it. Even w recruiting. Now we can't even get top 30. SMH

I seem to remember us doing virutally nothing in baseball from '86-'99. Before Tanner, we were bottom feeders of the SEC. I hate to say it, but maybe it's wrong to think we should be a great national power in baseball again when more and more teams have surpassed us in facilities and Vandy bends the rules to get all the top talent.

Everything is cyclical. No one stays on top forever. We'll be back.

Yeah we kind of timed it right. We put a big emphasis on baseball and got the lottery funds right as baseball was becoming popular. Now everyone takes it seriously and as you said Vandy made the lottery funds peanuts so it’s just hard to compete.

Ummm NIL. We can buy all the players we want now. Just gotta find some rich baseball fans.

Who has surpassed us in facilities?

... as soon as we figure out who we are and how we want to play. I'd like to see an identity emerge this year. You can bet the top tier teams will have one.

I use to be disappointed if we were not in the top 5.
