interesting move for sure since its conceding a run, but with a guy like martin at the plate that hits it so hard, gives you a better chance for an out. maybe the thought was damage control.

I could see playing him just on the grass. But you gotta play him close enough to make a throw to home.

You always play to stop a run from scoring. If they earn it, they earn it...but you don't chance up and do crazy stuff to give it to em.
