Pyrotechnic experiment about masks

I thought it was pretty smart too.

He challenged the mask with something stronger than mere breath to mimic coughing/sneezing. It worked great.

You could say that a mask fails over time or that his flame doesn't ignite every molecule that it encounters, though.

Comparing one's breath to a can of 145 psi of compressed air. Brilliant.

Regardless, take this virus seriously. Just heard that a study out of Germany of those who survived coronavirus, that 2/3 of them, including those with a minor case of covid, were found to have damage to their heart muscles, similar to what it would look like if you had a heart attack. I want us all to be around long enough to see Carolina win a SEC conference football championship.

I was all ready to tear his scientific method apart... but speaking high level... He did a good job actually.

It is further proof if what we already knew- masks prevent the spread of breath and particles in your breath throughout the area around you. It is common sense but so many seem resolute on ignoring common sense today.., Easy to follow visual proof like this might actually make an impression on the numbskulls claiming masks don’t work. Doubtful... but Maybe

A vapor/liquid out of an aerosol can is much different than a microscopic virus.

Of course they are much different: this man provided an illustrative example that you can instantly learn from. He is trying to help.

The mask was able to stop the aerosol blast of much *SMALLER* fuel molecules...even within a very short distance.

Did you know that coronaviruses have an average diameter of around 125 nanometers, but an isopropyl alcohol or ether molecule is only approximately 0.43 nanometers wide? Of course they are both microscopic, mon frère.

Viruses are transmitted via droplets of spit and junk which are much larger and visible. And fuel molecules from an aerosol can travel are all bunched together, so that they are visible until they dissipate and blend with the air.

This is why a mask can stop both virus transmission and aerosol can blasts if you wear it.

P.S. Lattimore rushed for about 1,100,000,000,000 nanometers in 2010.
A nanometer is one-billionth of one meter. One meter is 1.09 yards.

How many humans sneeze or cough with the pressure force of 145 pounds per square inch?

Chuck Norris and Michael Roth are the only two that come to mind.

So the mask would stop the sneezes of Clowney, Bruce Lee, and all lesser mortals. Right?

And possibly even Lou Holtz's spittle.

[Also the pressure/distance of the droplets is affected by everything about the nozzle, not just the can pressure. Like how there is an optimal gun barrel length, or how the shower spray changes with those fancy adjustable shower heads.]

Way to tie it back to Carolina FB! That last point legitimizes this entire thread TBH.
