What you say is true, and has been true in the past. The transfer portal and one-time free transfer rule has changed things. Gone are the days where a highly-rated QB will sit for 2-3yrs waiting his turn. Now obviously, that’s not going to hold true for every situation, but holding onto multiple highly-rated guys will be a lot tougher.
Again, I agree with you. I hope CSB recruits that way, and that he can make it work. In today’s cfb climate, it’s gonna be tough.

The new signee obviously must be okay with redshirting this year. He knew about Spencer before deciding. Sure he'll come in and compete, but he's decided to wait until the fall to come. I don't think you have to worry about him wanting to transfer quickly.
Of all the games I've watched on "Free Tv" this week the QB's in these games (except for Jac St.) were better than anything we had this year.

It's darn near always been our deficiency.....Anthony Wright. God Bless Anthony Wright but him being our NFL QB heritage has got to change if you want to win. Change the DNA at QB and the rest will follow. Rattler, Gauthier, Doty, Davis and Bailey are top to bottom - if they all make it to fall - the best talent we've ever had on the roster at QB by a good bit. Too many QB's ? Rattler plays a year and goes....we have gone through three QB starters splitting time this year....hurt foot, grad staffer, FCS transfer. Sure hope the talent creates a winning confident atmosphere. Regardless, you go get the BEST you can get every year for all positions. The notion that you back off working to improve the team simply doesn't fly.....
No need to even redshirt. I personally would play him as much as possible. I fully expect rattler to leave after one year, and this guy would need to be the best prepared he can be, and would have 3 more years.
It'll be interesting to see who ends up being the odd man out. Totally agree you get the best you can get and let the competition sort it out. The hard part will be keeping quality backups. With the portal, it's gonna be hard to hold onto any backup who has starter potential. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point, but am well aware this could all go belly-up. We could find out this year wasn't a fluke for Rattler and he washes out. Doty could fail to live up to potential. Davis' and Gauthier might not develop. And so on. But, on paper, we've never been this deep at the QB position that I can recall. Heck of a job by Beamer to totally revamp this position in just one season.
I definitely feel better about QB then I have since 2013, not saying we had more talent then but we had two guys that had win big games for us so how can you ask for more? I mean, this most likely is more unless half are busts, but this is more than was on my wishlist.

I caught that short portion of the presser, and heard Satt say that about himself. My immediate thought was that it’s good that at least he realizes a lot of us think he stinks!! Hopefully he too can use that. We shall see.
