Is it the responsibility of the catchers in the bullpen to figure out if a pitcher is on or not before sending the pitcher into the game? Is it the same in pre-game also?

its tough to say, pitching a bullpen and pitching on the field are completely different things. I have seen some pitchers absolutely slay in the bullpen only to falter when the game starts up. The same can be said vice versa as well.

Sometimes pitchers look like crap in warm ups and then go to the mound and pitch like an all-star so I doubt many coaches put a lot of stock on how a pitcher warmed up. I was pretty impressed with Scott the other day coming in for Schmidt with almost no warm up. Thought he did a good job.
