Would it have been better to be ranked around top 20 and then close strong to finish top 16 or be flirting with a top ranked class and drop to #16? Either way, we end up the same and its a strong class. Sucks we had 9 guys flip but if they didn't have the stomach for trying to make us better and just wanted to jump on a bandwagon, we are probably going to be better for it. We will see.

I would rather close strong. We were No. 2 at one time. Now we're down to 16.
The #2 rank was way way way too early. It really did not mean anything. The quest to ask though is, "How does Clemson continue to land all these 4-5 star players?" It really doesn't make any sense that 3 5-star players from out-of-state want to play at Clemson. What is it they are offering these guys and their families beside $$$$? We have plenty of money to recruit with too, so what gives?

Maybe it's because they're coaches are better at recruiting than ours.

Let's just say they are more 'inspired' than our coaches.

When Clemson coaches go out on the road, they know they better 'bring home the bacon' or face endless rants by that little rat wearing the cheap Wal-Mart sweatshirt.

Clemson coaches have to listen to endless drivel from a horde of stereotypical Clemson men folk (also dressed in orange), who want to know why they didn't reel in that tackle from Sleepy Hollow, Georgia. When deliveries aren't forthcoming this fan group can get REAL nasty.

An expansion on the paragraph above. Clemson fans have absolutely no compunction about calling Dabo's office and asking to speak to the HC (or any of his assistants) on any matter they consider of significant importance to the football program. The message passed along to all coaches is: "We're watching your every move on this recruiting thing. There ain't no such thing as out of sight-out of mind at Clempson'.

We have some cultural catching up to do, folks. Lou was dead right on this matter when he first got here.

You would much, much rather close strong. If for no other reason than perception You think next year's recruits aren't seeing us drop like a rock and hearing all the negative comments being made? You always want to close strong.
