Does anyone really take Social media serious anymore. Nothing but trolls looking to get reactions.
I get that King but he’s a sports talk show host in Charleston discussing Carolina and Clemson sports. He constantly bashes Gamecock fans for posting this kind of stuff on the chat boards.
I have no idea what he is talking about but for the most part imo, when criticism is directed at the program or teams on these sites, they are usually justified by a particular point of view and the various reasons for said criticism are worthy of discussion. That's kinda what we do here. I mean how many of us would be here today and how well would this site operate if it was all ra ra all the time? No thanks. Boring.
Been listening to him for the last 20 years — always liked his show and the guests he had on. Watched many games at his bar over the years — hated to see him have to shut it down. He’s a Super Carolina fan.
Guess that’s the new garnet way. Get attention by bashing your team. Nothing says ratings like negativity. Who better to bash than us. Clemson would shut him down. Here we are talking about him.
I particularly enjoyed listening when he had Penn Wagers on to discuss NCAA rules after a controversial call in a game somewhere not involving him. Wagers was hated by a lot of coaches but I always thought he was pretty good most of the time. He certainly is most hated at UGA — and that’s okay by me — the old “enemy of my enemy” thing.
I guess it was about 20 years ago he'd have a golf tour where if you mentioned his name at the club house when you checked in, your green fee and cart was $20. Various courses every couple of weeks if memory serves. Nice courses too. Sweet deal. Hated to see that end.
In fairness to Bobby, he reached out to me on Twitter and said that he was repeating something that he had heard. I thanked him for his reply and told him he should have used some quotation marks. I also deleted my tweet.
I've been listening to Bobby for 30 years. He does a lot of good for the community and is a good guy. Sometimes he'll bend over backwards criticizing Carolina so that he won't be seen a being biased.

When he was in the Bar business, he would only criticize the Gamecocks, when something occurred. He would never criticize Clemson over the same kind of things. I guess he didn’t want to lose his Tiger patrons at the Bar. I never thought that was fair, so I haven’t listened in years. Don’t miss him either!

Tonight’s game. I’m at Santee and forced to listen to 1075. Crazy how fast they bashed the Freshman pitcher that retired the side in the top of the 9th. 1st batter - 91 is not going to get here. - after diminishing his early stats.
Anyway. It’s a tough job but no one is immune to over reacting.

I tune in to watch a baseball game but instead I get the life and times of Kip Bouknight as told by Kip Bouknight with a baseball game being played in the background. If he's in the middle of a story, he'll barely mention what's going on on the field. I dont listen anymore.
I do enjoy Kip, when he sticks to calling the game. Like his input from pitching standpoint, agree with your life and times part 🤭
I forget who it was but there was a guy (maybe 2 years ago?) that did a couple of our games by himself. Dont remember if it was home or away. I learned more about our team in those games than from any other broadcaster in a long time. Very professional. Did the game and filled it with player background and facts. Wish I remembered who it was. Wasnt Drew Meyer tho... but I enjoy listening to him as well.

I enjoyed Trey Dyson, I think I may have been in the minority on this.
Who ever is our radio guy. He’s a wealth of baseball knowledge - but it’s trivia night. He sucks in my opinion. - very hard to listen to. - Plus he’s a big apologist - imo - we need a Homer - Jmo - Call a spade a spade. Not make random apologies for being a gamecock fan. No shame in an announcer being a homer.
