Opening Statement notes:
--Starts with the new ops building and says it's made a huge difference in the recruiting sphere because it shows investment for the program and does help change the culture because players want to be in the building more now.
Mentions the $22 million project on Williams-Brice and "pressing the needle" to upgrade facilities, thanking Ray Tanner and the Board of Trustees.
--Mentions Bryan Edwards should leave after his career with a lot of school records. Said he'll be in elite company. Said Edwards and TJ Brunson were the first two guys he visited after officially taking the job so it's special to have them at Media Day as seniors.
--Likes the strides they made offensively but need to make better decisions with the football. Need to finish on plays, especially in the red zone and they need to minimize the self-inflicted wound.
--Team "flat-out struggled" defensively. Team only had 40 percent of snaps returning and then they lost DJ Wonnum. He's challenged seniors Javon Kinlaw, Keir Thomas, Kobe Smith, Danny Fennell and Wonnum to really lead the team and step up in their final years.
--Team speed has gotten a lot better and will help a lot on special teams. AJ Turner, Shi Smith and Rico Dowdle are all guys that can start at returner.
--"I know people are going to ask about the schedule, hell the schedule's hard every year."
--Reiterates Tyquan Johnson is cleared, they feel good about Jaquaze Sorrells and Jaylin Dickerson is out for the year.
--Asked about what it'll take to beat Alabama, says, "You have to beat Alabama, they're not going to beat themselves." Calls Nick Saban the best college football coach ever and they can't "hope and wish something's going to happen."
--In program building, team isn't where they need to be right now.
--Having guys like Dakereon Joyner and Ryan Hilinski will be able to push Bentley a little bit and whatever decision they make will be about winning.
--Team has more girth up front on both lines and have a lot of quality depth that will benefit them moving forward.
--Danny Fennell will be full-speed by Aug. 1. Fennell will be on a "pitch count" early on to ease him back but he's full tilt now. Tore his ACL against Clemson.
--Jay Urich attacked playing receiver great this offseason and was open to the move because he wants to impact and help the team.
--Team doesn't need much more in terms of facilities right now and commends Ray Tanner and the administration for being willing to invest.
