I’m not up to speed on how retired numbers work. But thought they couldn’t be use - unless the retiree grants permission - like the taters did with one of their numbers a few years ago ( it may have been #3- can’t remember)

The Jersey is being retired not the number. So the number can still be used, it’s symbolic for Clowney to retire his jersey.

That's not the way to do it. If you're going to honor a player, make it something unique and distinctive, the way it was done in a less indulgent age.
