I remember when our pitching plan was pitch whoever was left. Enter Aaron Rawl vs Texas in the CWS.
It stunk it was still a winner take all championship format back then.
I like the best of 3 no doubt.
Rawl was impressive, but the "lets hope Roth can give us a few innings" takes home the gold medal.
I'll never forget sitting at Lucky's watching that with one of my best friends who was a bartender there. I thought Clemson was gonna kill us. Left the bar that night knowing we were kick their butts the next day.
Strange you post this. I was, and have been thinking about this a bunch. Nobody in Gamecock Nation, including the entire coaching staff, saw Roth coming. Without him emerging as he did, we don't make 3 finals appearances, nor win 2 NC's. I have been thinking for awhile now that this team is in desperate need of an emerging star. With pitching presumably thin, who in the pen waiting to be forced into a bigger role, perhaps out of desperation, is waiting to be called upon.
