You are exactly right. And from what I understand, the football staff at USC went to great lengths to keep him from going home as much as they could. There is a side to Union that some of those kids just can't get away from.

Union was a great place to grow up in the 80’s and into the early 200’s. But once the jobs left, the crime and drugs took over. There are still a lot of good people in Union but they’re my parents age. The majority of the people around my age (37) graduated and never looked back, and for very good reason. I spent the last year of my coaching career back at Union Co Hs, and it was a shell of what it once was. Those of you familiar with Hs sports know Union had great sports teams through the 90’s and 2000’s. But that will never be the same again.

Sad, but true. Looking back, it was a bad move on the County to turn down the jobs that wanted to come to that area. It's like a ghost town now.... Little to nothing going on. I can remember driving through Union back in the 90's and early 2000's, it was a great place. it didn't matter the sport, when you played a team from Union, you were going to be in a dog fight until the end. Those were great times.

Not much in Union County except Midway Barbecue. The barbecue is so-so, but their other lunch entrees and veggies are really good. I like their chicken stew. It’s different, but good.
