I remember the right fielder (cant recall his name) that was injured. Holbrook sent another outfielder out there, the right fielder told him to go back to the dugout. I'd venture to say that wouldn't have happened with Tanner. Heck, it wouldn't have happened with my son's HS baseball coach. A JUCO coach that ran camps/clinics with Tanner for years told me everyone saw the smiling/kissing babies Tanner, but he was an asshole in the dugout, his way or the highway. I'm not totally sold on him as an AD, but the man could coach a baseball team, knew the right buttons to push at the right time, one of the best.
