So during the Muschamp days, if someone told you that with the next coach SC would be 5-2 with wins over A&M and Kentucky, and that the board would still be predominantly negative, what would you have thought?

I would have said yep…..
Typical GC board …..

Always seeking perfection and maybe a better OC 😇.

I would have wanted more information. It's always the irritating squeak in the door hinge that predominates people's consciousness. Our offense is in the 50th percentile. People notice because it sticks out.

I think we are all happy to be 5-2 ... or at least should be. I dont know if anyone should be happy to have had maybe 6 to 8 good quarters out of 28 on offense.
That said, it does erk me a bit to hear the defense criticized at times.

I looked it up in another thread, it was in the 80's. Maybe it was based off a different stat?

Either way, all people have to do is point to Muschamps second year for some background on those feelings.

don't care what others think about it. Shane is doing a good job trying to build a program and that is a big job after Will Muschamp and the end of Spurrier's tenure.

it's some forward and backward steps.

this offense is limited because of the lack of a few high ceiling wide receivers. that has influenced the types of calls that can be implemented.

I like the improvement with Lloyd and the O-Line. Defense seems to be getting it together. I'm positive about those things. Might be the best special teams mentality we've ever had.

Elephant in the room is play calling and the QB position. It's painful watching us try to call plays or get into any kind of rhythm on offense. And that's because we don't know who we are or exactly what we want to do. 3 straight passes in obvious run situations. Or vice versa. Then let's throw in a wildcat just because. I can see where the players would be frustrated. It's frustrating for us to watch. Not to mention Rattler cannot wrap his head around this "pro" style offense. Kids looks like he has NO confidence back there.

The achilles heel is obviously Satterfield. Thankfully we've been winning in spite of him.

Look, I'm not attacking you personally nor, am I suggesting you are part of what I speak. However, I have noticed, that whenever something positive happens, at Carolina, whether it be football, basketball or the sun rising on time, one of the first posts/replies will always be some Sunshine Pumper whining about the negativity. Not even clever enough to come back with an "I Told Ya So!", they just echo the same whine over & over again.... And never saying anything, just whining.

Even the blind can see that all Coach has to do, is exactly what he's done the past 4 games and all the negativity will quickly go away or, at least, eventually get replaced with the whining about "Nobody respects us, we deserve to be ranked #1!".

So! Thanks but, No Thanks, we don't need any help stirring the pot.

EDIT:
Just before leading his UCLA team onto the court for the first time, Gene Bartow was asked "Coach, how do you think you're going to do here at UCLA" He smiled and responded: "I'll do just fine, ... if I win them all." He then lost his smile and added ... " for the next 20 years."

There are a lot of offensive stats…I feel like a good baseline is yards per play which I think as a season goes along shows how your offense is clicking and currently we are 81st.

Something like scoring offense doesn’t really account for a defensive or special teams unit giving you short fields which ours have on several occasions so we are 41st scoring offense as stated above but 2x worse than that basically when it comes to moving the ball.

In total offense which is just total amount of yards from scrimmage we’re also 81st

I think the passing game would be better if the quarterback would stay in the pocket more and step up

he takes off running outside the pocket even when he has some protection. I don't think that's a coaching thing because he's been told that 1 million times. he has just developed a bad habit. No coach in the country would tell him to takeoff running when he has protection but he does enough things well to where we have to stick with him

Well said!

There’s always sheep on board to pretend they are fans. Miserable sob’s in my option. But if that gets them off - so be it. We see who they are.

Plus. Add. The #notadime group that only chime in with negative thoughts to make themselves feel better for quitting the fan team.

No doubt we are not where most of us would like to be on a consistent level. But I love the support the fans are giving the players and coaches at the games. Even during limited seating during covid - the fans that showed up where loud. It makes a difference for the team and recruits.

Go gamecocks.

8 false starts. - says it all. -

You're being too lenient on Satterfield. His resume' doesn't justify it.

I don't think that many people would've been impressed that we beat Kentucky. They've only recently become consistently good.

Last time we made the top 25 we fell right back out. Now doesn’t seem like the time to sit back and say we’re good. And that all who had the nerve to criticize people like Tanner, Sat were all wrong and should be ashamed. It’s about staying ranked and getting lower in the polls. We don’t know that this little bit of success can be sustained. Now isn’t the time to take the foot off the gas.

The real irony is the DL that Muschamp finally recruited is paying off for the next Coach.

Similar how McElwain crushed it after Muschamp then fell apart.
