Some Screen Pass Numbers

Hey y'all, I'll have more tomorrow in my advanced stats piece for subscribers (it's only $10 a month for that, a ton of exlusive recruiting content, premium film breakdowns and more!), but here's a quick taste of what's coming. I did some play charting about Satterfield's playcalling, specifically the passes and the horizontal stuff:

His play calling sucks but the reason the 2nd half passes were behind the line of scrimmage is because Spencer was getting hit in less than 2 seconds. Our only option was to release the ball immediately after the snap. Blocking was terrible plus Mizzou knew whether the play would be pass or run before every snap. There's not a lot to analyze here, the test sample is great enough to clearly see that Marcus is NOT capable of being a good OC for us. Point blank. I don't care how nice/good of a person he is, or how much effort he puts in. It's a results game and he's failing.

IMO Beamer rides out the season with Sat. . Who else does he hire mid season that is proven to step in and save the offense? Win at Vanderbilt and he 's guaranteed a bowl and a 500 season. If they lose, then it gets sticky for him. Maybe they can sneak another win in there and the Gamecocks finish 7-5. Most fans won't be happy how the season ends and I would imagine the portal gets hit hard with skilled players leaving. Oh, and coach, don't talk up Vanderbilt. They are 0 for their last 21 in conference play.

Mizzou's early gameplan appeared to be a 2 second pass. My guess is they were probably concerned about our pressure defense. But their 2 second pass appeared to be targeted to 4 or so yards. Death by a thousand cuts and it eventually opened up the deep ball when we had to defend it. It was a good game plan... much better than our's for sure. Hell, I'm still not sure what our plan was just by looking. I'm told it was a good plan tho. Lol.
But back to Mizzou's plan, I will expect similar game plans from our opponents going forward... it was that good. We were out coached. No doubt about it.
