The title defense officially has its first challenger.

The speculation of who the Gamecocks would find to replace BYU is over, and it will be the East Tennessee State Buccaneers traveling to Colonial Life Arena on November 7th. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m., and the rest of the television schedule was announced as well in a release from the university.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Reigning National Champion South Carolina women’s basketball will play at least 17 of its 29 regular-season games on national television this season, including the season opener on Nov. 7. With 14 of those games being released today as part of the SEC’s television package, the Gamecocks are tied for the league lead in nationally televised outings.

A pair of non-conference games will air on ESPN2 – at Maryland (Nov. 11) and against South Dakota State (Dec. 15) – and the Gamecocks’ trip to Tennessee (Feb. 23) is slated for ESPN. Five other SEC games are set for broadcast on either ESPN2 or SEC Network, including three home games.

Seven games will air on SEC Network, including the first game of the season, an 8:30 p.m. tipoff against East Tennessee State at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks will celebrate their 2021-22 season accomplishments prior to that game, including unveiling National Champion and SEC Regular-Season Champion banners. South Carolina’s matchup with UCLA on Nov. 29 will also air on SEC Network.

South Carolina’s game at UConn on Feb. 5 will air on FOX. Tipoff time and broadcast information for the Gamecocks’ game at Stanford (Nov. 20) have yet to be announced.

All home games not selected for television broadcast will be streamed on SEC Network+ as will SEC road games at Kentucky (Jan. 12) and at Auburn (Feb. 9).

The Gamecocks will host their annual We Back Pat game on Jan. 22 against Arkansas, and their annual Play 4 Kay contest on Feb. 12 against LSU.
