Spurrier Jr is now at Washington State

"Spurrier joined the WKU staff in December as the team's quarterbacks coach after a one-year stint with Oklahoma where he worked in an off-field role as a recruiting and offensive specialist..."

I guess they use the word "specialist" quite loosely...
We all know SOS and Stoops were very tight. Stoops retired and certainly exposed Jr. The young blood in charge wants aggressive coaches / recruiters on staff. Jr. is anything but.

SOS had a right to be arrogant because he won wherever he went. Jr comes off the same way without proving himself. Leach is fun when he lets it fly. I would love to hear him burst Jrs ego. I wonder if this means once you are at D1 somewhere I can always get a good paying job somewhere if u don’t mind moving. Hell, I’m getting questions about what professions make what. Get into D1 football and make as much as a Dr. even if u suck.

"Specialist" = Get a paycheck and don't have to recruit.
It says right there he was a RECRUITING and offensive specialist... ??

You guys are all lost regarding Jr.- he may not have been as charismatic as his Dad, but he was a GREAT WR COACH!! He turned A HS QB into our all tine leading receiver, turned a BASKETBALL Player who only played FB PART TIME into an NFL WR, and generated stud after stud at the WR position every year he was here- Cooper, Alshon, RICE, Sanders, Byrd... The list is ling and decorated of the kids he RECRUITED AND DEVELOPED while he was here. You are also misguided in blaming HIM for that late recruiting slide we saw... sure he was the recruiting coordinator but the day his DAD said “2-3 more years”, it KILLED recruiting. I don’t care if NICK SABAN was our RC, if The HBC telegraphs his retirement like that, recruiting DIES! Prior to that, Spurrier’s staff consistently recruited better than we ever have in the hisory of Carolina FB. Prior to him coming here kids like Clowney, Latt, Gilmore... Would never have considered us.

The venom for Jr has never made sense to me. He had a “blahhh” personality but the position he coached here was the most decorated of any position group during iur most successful run in history. I thank the man for a job well done and putty him for living in his Dad’s shadow and getting screwed by the poor choice of words SOS used to describe his future here.

U can manipulate the “late recruiting slide” all u want. He was a shitty recruiter from the beginning. The, “2-3 years comment,” is related to one recruiting cycle. The rest of the garbage he recruited has been explained over and over again on this forum and nationally. He was lazy and took the first recruits that said yes. Point blank, that’s a fact.

He was a good recruiter when his dad went on visits. When dad decided he was too old for that game and it cut into golf and didn't even take the time to know who was on campus for a visit, Jr. was below average at it.

Ward approves of this post.
He'd better add some value or Leach will light his @$$ up.
Am a fan of Leach and wish an SEC school would have hired him. I watched his team every chance I got.

Not sure i agree with you, but good points, and well stated.

Ahhhh, Pullman. One of my favorite places. Good luck finding a tailgate. But seriously a nice place. Just waaaaay out there. And get your gas in Idaho. Unless things have changed.

GOCOCKS! BEATCSU! BEATMSU! BEATUT!

I couldn't agree with you more. This guy is in the rear view mirror. Appears to me, we got bigger fish to fry than wasting band width ad nausem to continue a vendatta against someone like Junior. Let it go. He's gone. Worry about who we got coaching now. and this team.

Spurrier Jr. is a ok college WR coach, if he was great he would not have had to go sit a desk at OU for a year and then work at Western Kentucky.

He was a horrible fit as a recruiting coordinator, he was the bosses son, so he got the job, but don't take my word for it, take his, look at this quote when he took the job LOL. And you wonder why he failed as RC.

“One of the things I’ve never particularly liked doing was answering my phone all the time,” Spurrier Jr. said. “I don’t like talking to everybody. I’ve never loved all that stuff, but as a recruiting coordinator you better like talking to everybody that knows anybody that wants to talk about high school football. You better have a good relationship with all those people, so I’m excited about reaching out to people in this state and making sure we continue our success recruiting this state.”

I hope the guy gets a long run at Wash State, as Rod pointed out he has a very large family, must suck moving all the time for the kids

Gradstudent, who would have known this better than SS senior? So why the hell did he make him RC? After all that good SS did he left us in a bad place because of his laziness. He just wanted out. I don't believe he has a good place in his heart for USC.
