To me the problem with Spurrier is he brought your program to probably the best 4 year period in your history from 2010-2013 but he didn't continue to build on it with recruiting momentum. Consequently when guys like Jadeveon Clowney and Connor Shaw, ect. moved on then there was a severe talent drop off. It's been kind of like a free fall.

I think if you guys get the right coach, preferably a younger guy you'll amp up the recruiting and this little blip that Spurrier left you with will pass pretty quickly.

Spurrier never recruited very well. The players we got that help turn us around for those 3 or 4 years were all instate players that fell in our lap. As you can see he didn't recruit very well at all out of state. The state of South Carolina don't produce a large number of top recruits year in and year out. Spurrier didn't recruit the state of NC,Ga. Fla well at all. After we lost Shane Beamer our recruiting took another dive.

Its not just bad recruiting. He also hired a can and a half of his buddies to come coach football...... And then refused to tell them to gtho when they proved to SUCK AT COACHING FOOTBALL.

If spurrier had been coaching at some other school besides UF there's a good chance he wouldn't have won as many games as he did. The state of Fla produces tons of top talent players.Recruiting at UF was a no brainer kids played at UF, FSU or Miami with Ga slipping in a getting a few.

Calm down. Not sure if you're old enough to remember but UF was in terrible shape before Spurrier got there.
Come to think of it....after he left UF, they suffered... Anybody else remember ron zook? Maybe we ain't so bad off after all lol.

SOS actually inherited a lot of talent from the Galen Hall staff.

It wasn't necessarily talent early on at UF for Spurrier. He was an innovator. Defenses had never seen the O Spurrier brought to Gainesville. For many years defenses were out X and O'd by Spurrier. He really did change the game in the SEC.

And then, in only a few seasons Myer won two NCs. Spurrier was good but he was 3rd fiddle in that state.
