South Carolina added a piece to its 2018 recruiting class with lefty Cole Ganopulos from Chattahoochee Valley CC in Alabama.

He's a JUCO prospect that was originally interested in South Carolina in high school coming out in 2016 but ultimately went to Auburn. He transferred after arriving on campus.

He hasn't been to campus since originally visiting in high school but said he loved the facilities then. Mark Kingston is trying to get him to campus soon to walk around again and meet the rest of the coaching staff.

Ganopulos is a guy Kingston really wanted for the 2018 class because of the lack of lefties on the team right now. There's an immediate void there and Ganopulos can help immediately.

Kingston initiated contact with him and flew out to see him pitch recently. The two talked it over and Ganopolus committed pretty soon after.

The coaching staff really likes what he brings to the table. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot, which is similar to what Reed Scott and Josh Reagan threw from at USC. He said his fastball is topping out at about 89 mph from the left side and he's working on making his changeup more consistent.

They also like the fact that he's been in an SEC program before and knows what to expect.

He'll be in the 2018 class and will enroll in August for the start of the fall semester.
