Problem is Jones is a hell of a coach and very good recruiter and is building a program very fast that will be a force in the sec east in several short years...probably as early as this year.

Tenn. has all they need to attract top talent.

I don't think he doing so great of a job. UT has lost to Bama 8 yrs in a row, Florida 10 yrs in a row, and Georgia 5 yrs in a row. If we had not choked against Butch the past 2 seasons he would be on the hot seat and fired for the continuation of the losing streaks.

Also, our offense outgained Tennessee's by 1,000 yds in 2014. If we develop a QB with running/passing skills, we will be a better team than they are in 2015.

Butch Jones presents a Dabo-ish "all in" family persona because Tennessee's program reputation has been in the toilet. But have heard from some in Vol Nation that behind the scenes, he's pretty much a tyrant to players and his assistants. LIke Dabo, he also is a good recruiter and says what momma and daddy want to hear...so they're doing well with recruiting.

So there may be some success for the short term. But once people tire of his two faced ways, things will likely fall apart on them. At least that's the way it usually goes. We'll see.

I dont get all the love for Butch Jones. Yes he has beat us twice, but both times we have had the better team. It seems like all the hype on Tennessee is based off them beating South Carolina.

most want to hear the fluff (we need you to win the conference, you've got a great chance at starting from day one, etc)

There are a few kids out there that just want to be told the truth and work their butt off for playing time - if they earn it.

Say what you want to about Jones but he is a good coach and the Tennessee program is on the rise. Maybe he's not afraid of hurting someone's feelings like some one else we know. They will school us again this year with ward at the helm.

Tennessee has always been a Ferrari, all they have needed is to find a guy that knows how to put the key in the ignition and turn it. Jones might be that man but the jury is still out

Give him credit for what he has done. He's energetic and motivated.
He won those games when USC had won them on paper. When he really gets it going, I'm afraid that Tenn will win the games not only on paper but on the field.

HaHa Hardly. This thread has gotten a little off track with the debate shifting to whether or not Jones is a good coach. Like Cali said, I think the jury is still out. My initial post is about the fact that Jones has clearly shown he is a lying hypocrite when he pulls the offer from a highly touted DE from Florida claiming they have no more room yet he is sitting in Wanogho's living room this past Wednesday trying to entice him to become a Vol. Sorry but I find this incredible and I am surprised there is not more outrage about it than there is.
