Same sorry hitting and pitching returns to form when we needed it the most in the last game of the season.

Needed a win tonight to make the ncaa tournament and get routed instead.

What's even worse after Clemsux hires Lee they will start dominating us in baseball. Put pride aside Ray and make a move. A blind man can see Holbrook is not gonna get us back to where we were under Tamner

Completely lost this team and word is pipeline drying up with him at helm. Hope he falls on sword or Tanner makes the hard choice, for him, to go another direction.

He's not the man for the job, and I don't understand why he is being kept another year.

I think we gamecock fans are a little unrealistic at times. I, like many, had set the bar higher, and rightfully so. But realistically we had nowhere to go but down. The problem is the speed of the downward plummet.

Holbrook taking over for the best coach in program history was a tall task, I'm sure he understood what he was getting into.

I'm ok with giving Holbrook some time as long as next year is a big improvement from this year, like being a legit regional host next year. I don't think that's too high of an explanation. But for Holbrook to continue to get my support he's gonna have to make some coaching changes.

I will bet ya right now, we won't host a regional next season

How many of our guys would crack the starting lineup at LSU.

That's what we need to be asking ourselves.

Martin would start at first with stiff competition from Chinea, who bats seventh in the lineup batting .375 and hits a homerun about every other game.

What did u expect when he was hired ? He had never been a head coach. Buddy system hires never work out. We didn't even go after the best coaches in college baseball when he was hired just gave him the giG. This is on Tanner

The most revealing thing I saw this season was on Friday night when Caldwell ignored him & refused to come out of the game. The announcers tried to play it off but knew it was an embarrassment.

You do realize that we were playing the #1 ranked team in the nation with their Ace on the mound with a 9-0 record??? He showed why he is their ACE, why he is 9-0, and why they are ranked #1. Lsu's only starting batting average below .300 was at .288 for the year. I expect to see them in the CWS Championship series.

I know that we held the #1 spot for one week in 2011, but we were NEVER that team. We never had the hitting team like they have. We never had the overall quality players they have. We had players that came together in 2010 for the Regional's, Super's, and the CWS that refused to lose. That was a team that lost2 of 3 to East Carolina and to Clem5ux 19-6 at Carolina Stadium and 2 of 3 overall. In 2010, we were NEVER ranked #1 until the final ranking came out after the CWS. In 2011, we were in a 3 way tie for the SEC Conference regular season Championship. We didn't win it outright like LSU did this year. We were ranked #1 in the country for exactly one (1) week prior to the final poll in 2011. What 2010 and 2011 team had was grit and "win anyway", something this year's baseball team does not so far.
So yes, I realize that we were NEVER that team.

Silverspur is a Tater... tell me mr. We were never them. How many national title series have LSU been in since 2010? Thank u I rest my case

Silverspur, even if we weren't holding the #1 spot most of those seasons or sporting the most elite pitchers and hitters we always found a way to knock off the teams that did (UCLA in 2010, UF in 2011). Now the separation seems evident.

Tanner will give him one more season then move in a another direction after another abysmal year. Its unfortunate but it is what it is.

I can't disagree with you, and if we aren't in serious consideration, like being a solid top 20 team, then Tanner needs to man up, take the blame, and move in a different direction.

Hopefully, if that happens, Tanner will look in the direction of a coach that's been a head coach already.

And whoever said "the buddy system" doesn't work, in reference to Tanner hiring his friend Holbrook, I agree because it really does NEVER work. When Holbrook took over I thought for sure we'd be loaded with elite talent, and that obviously has NOT happened.

usc4ever15... Calling me a Tater is cute. Evidently your handle fits you well - 4ever15. Maybe one day you can grow up to get past 15. 4th period bell just rang, go to class.

sclawman77... If you read all of my post you would have seen the part "What 2010 and 2011 team had was grit and "win anyway", something this year's baseball team does not so far.".. I was pointing out to you that we were playing the #1 ranked team in the country with their ace on the mound and a team that hit ropes all weekend long. Kitchenlabs said that we use to be THAT team. We were not. We were a gritty ball club that refused to lose when the regionals started in 2010 and carried over thru 2011. Our overall talent was NOT the quality that I saw in the LSU team this weekend. BUT, we had the IT factor, chemistry, coaching, and everything else needed to bring home the titles. I was in Omaha for both Series and the unbelievable plays were something to behold. And you are right, now the separation seems evident.

Actually TATER the #15 was made long ego for my favorite Gamecock at the time Carlos Powell wouldn't surprise me any that u don't even know who that is. You are just mad that people on this site think ur on dope for saying LSU was better than us from 2010-2013 that's just laughable

Ding, Ding, ding we have a winner.........it should shut up the pumpers for good but will not.....there are always Darrin Horn supporters whom squeal until the hammer drops.

Fact is that in the 3rd year after back-to-back NCs, another Champ game appearance, and the building of the best facilities in the SE, our program should be loaded with LSU type players with others sitting on the bench waiting their turn....not getting 10 run ruled in every other SEC game...the pumpers are reduced to accusing fans of being spoiled because this 10 run ruled team isn't making it to Omaha.

I wonder who was doing the scouting for the baseball team while Tanner was coach and who is doing it now. IMHO, the teams that scout the best normally win the series they participate in. Could that be part of our issue??

Okay.. if you are going to continue calling me tater, then I will just refer to you as 15. Yes, I know who Carlos Powell is, where he came from (Florence), and who he played with (Tre Kelley and his cousin Brandon Wallace). If you want to go know other basketball players that I am familial with, you have to go back to the Gary Gregor-Frank Standard-Jack Thompson Era under Frank McGuire (know him 15?). You need to go ask your Daddy who those guys are.

Now, going back to baseball; show me ONE single quote in my 4 posts in this thread where I said that LSU was better than us in 2010 and/or 2011. Go ahead - find it, 15. I will wait... (Jeopardy music playing)
