This right here! Sports are made to entertain, to put a smile on people’s faces, and give them a break from reality! Enough with all the politics in sports, just do what you are paid to do! Fun to watch! The video of rizzo striking freeman out and then the interview with freeman.

OP doesn't realize that he is part of the "problem" by bringing up race and politics unnecessarily. People are also tired of others whining about it in every damn thread.

People who start threads about Fauci, say something about Trump or liberals/dems should be banned. It won't stop around here until swift and decisive actions are taken. There are plenty of other sports forums that follow these guidelines and are thriving.

Please explain, not once did i say race, politics i did mention that?
Im sorry just politics - youre the one making this political for some reason

although people complaining about politics in sports is 99% complaining about race being brought up in sports

If that's the case it was not my intention. I enjoy watching the game/games to see them having fun with one another while playing the game, it is entertaining. I had i left out the word politics would we even be having this conversation?

Nope because you would not have brought up politics

Fair enough, i stand by what i said then, and if that makes it political then it is what it is. I like watching the game without anything going on other than two groups of men/women battling it out on the field. Thought I would share it with a few others who just enjoy sports without being fed some sort of narrative, weather it be from the left or the right. Hope this conversation has made you feel better and given you some semblance of value in your life, cheers to you and your family!

Again I remind....once upon a time there was another forum for that. Simple fix...bring it back.

Given the state of our athletics, and how the world has changed in terms of online conversations, the contingent that want Gamecock sports only don’t seem to understand GCC cannot survive on that.

This site launched in 1998, the middle of online chat explosion. In 1999 Lou Holtz arrived, then Spurrier, then the glory years of football and baseball. None of those things are true today.

If other topics create engagement, and clearly they do, what’s wrong with that. GCC is after all a business. They need eyeballs and Gamecock sports ain’t doing the job.

Another thing to consider is the world has changed in ways that two years ago none of us would think is possible. In a world where free thought comes with risk, people feel more comfortable talking I anonymity.

I’m not trying to argue with you, just trying to provide context. I do understand your point. Rather than jumping on people who want to discuss something besides our sorry ass athletics (not saying you are but plenty do) why not organize? Everyone who complains about it should draft a message with signatures (like a petition) and convince GCC to reopen the alternate forums.

Just sayin

Well I was just on here the other day to talk about basketball only to get attacked and called a socialist for liking basketball. When the dude found out that didn’t bother me, he called me a racist. When he found out that didn’t bother me either he went further. Yeah he went there. Where were all the race-neutral people to call that out. Crickets. Only, a message about an hour later talking about the issue was handled. This is part of the reason why I cancelled my TIF subscription a couple years ago and just check the free board out for Information. That is getting pointless now with how bad we are in every sport and all the OT threads talking about everything but sports. Well, if everyone else can talk politics why can’t athletes? Maybe we all need to talk less politics and the environment may change.

I know what you mean. And it sucks. There are plenty of people (some I agree with and some I don’t) who can engage responsibly.

I’m sorry that happened. It’s easier the more extensive your ignore list becomes.

I was serious about trying to convince GCC to open other forums. It might not help, but maybe it would.

When the leagues speak out against atrocities and inhuman treatment in Asian countries that make their shoes then i will consider their opinion. Every major league does it. I haven't seen any star with a big shoe or apparel deal say anything about the workers that are paid pennies an hour to make that apparel or the way they are treated. Their silence is both deafening and hypocritical

Understandable. Don't derail my reading of a sports thread by inserting commentary on how much you hate liberals. That's not too much to ask. My signature goes on the petition to bring back a separate section for the people who can't help themselves. The problem is, it went away because those threads often became very racially insensitive, not just responsible discussion. Like I said, I have seen other boards accomplish this and still thrive, even ones like this where the teams are up and down.

That was a sad day on this board when that guy was overtly racist, wasn't even subtle about it, and virtually none of the Gamecock brethren checked him. Maybe the claim will be no one else saw it. To see it and not call it out is a big problem.

The problem with that is the very people that tend to want that type of forum are the reason for that forum coming to an end. Let's be honest. Most people don't want to have a conversation, liberal, conservative, or otherwise. They want an echo chamber where they can freely degrade people that they see as an other. When they get a few responses from those so called others they tend to whine and cry and say stick to sports. See the circle of behavior there. It is not limited to athletes.

However, from previous forum threads, I do applaud your readiness to actually have a conversation. Too bad that others get in the way sometimes.🙂
