Time for a MBB discussion?

Rather ungenerous assessment of us by the author. He basically ignored everything we do well and all the good things we've accomplished. Sure, we're not a great shooting team (though not as bad as a lot of people seem to think), but despite that we beat ISU, which is basically a more talented version of Arkansas. Very similar style of play. We come out and play like we did in December and against Georgia on Saturday, and we'll win. Anything less and it'll be a rough ride.

Yeah a biased article, but you can expect that.

Just make your shots (free throws, paint, and outside shots) and guard the paint well. Gotta play really well. Should have beat LSU but that's history. We can certainly win, just gotta go do it.

Last 10 Games .... USC 6 wins against the Hogs.

South Carolina has the one win Frank Martin hoped the Gamecocks would need to get back on the right track.

But after a bounce-back performance in beating Georgia by 17 on Saturday, the Gamecocks are off to another tough test.

Four of USC's next five games will come on the road, starting with Tuesday night's game at Arkansas, a team that Martin said would qualify for the NCAA Tournament if the season had ended on Monday.

"We've got a typical SEC week staring at us," Martin said, also noting USC's road game at Vanderbilt on Saturday. "But we're excited. We were excited before Saturday's game, we were excited yesterday, and we're excited today."

The Razorbacks (16-5, 5-3 SEC), winners of three of their last four, are a daunting opponent on paper.

Arkansas is led in scoring and rebounding by 6-foot-11 sophomore forward Bobby Portis, who averages 17.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Martin said that Portis was mostly known for his athleticism and highlight plays last year, but that he's refined his offensive abilities this season.

"Now he's handling the ball, he's making 17-foot shots," Martin said. "And then around the basket, he's just such a big kid with real good hands that has a real good feel of play. So we've got our hands full, back-to-back here."

The Razorbacks, ranked No. 24 in the NCAA's weekly RPI, have a formidable No. 2 option in 6-foot-6 junior guard Michael Qualls, who averages 15.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

"It's just challenge after challenge, but that's the great thing about coaching where I'm at, that you have those kinds of players in your conference," Martin said.

The Razorbacks aren't bad defensively, either, Martin said.

"I don't think they get the credit that they deserve for how unselfish they play on both ends of the floor," Martin said. "They play for each other defensively with aggression and trapping and help and rotation. It's relentless. It's like you're fighting piranhas in the middle of a lake somewhere with how they come at you defensively."
