Actually got his autograph almost 35 years ago. Only thing I had for him to sign was a dollar bill and he signed it.

I never was a Mets fan but as an all-around baseball fan I respect great players of good character regardless of who they played for.

i saw Tom pitch against the Braves once in a day game at the old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. 1800 people in the stands. I was sitting right next to the Mets dugout and not 10 feet away sat Gil Hodges, Willie Mays, and Yogi Berra. Can't believe I didn't get any autographs.

Saw him pitch many times at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati and once at the “Big A” in Anaheim. Great pitcher!
