I'm glad we're going to get a win here but wow... Mizzou is terrible and we aren't much better. The ball is just flying back and forth, no one can really handle it, missed shots... ugly. I'll take it but... ugly.

Is this really necessary? Couldn't you just keep mindless, obnoxious BS like this to yourself?

Like saying our program is "in the crapper right now"? That kind of obnoxious BS or some other kind?

Re: Two legless midgets fighting in an empty arena

Wait... So, you do seriously not see the difference between the two statements? Saying a basketball program that hasn't won an NCAA tournament game in about 40 years, hasn't had a winning season in... What? FIVE YEARS, hasn't sniffed the NIT even since Horn's first year... Is "in the crapper" right now is a pretty obvious statement of fact. That is not an insult or some cutesy attempt at demeaning our players and coaches by calling them names, it is a commonly used saying used to described a struggling program.

Calling the team names like "legless midgets" and crying about their shitty play AFTER A WIN... IS certainly mindless obnoxious BS that you really could have kept to yourself... So, to answer your question no, it is NOT "that" type of obnoxious BS- they are CLEARLY two completely different types of BS.

Everyone is frustrated by the results so far this season, but we don't need our fans to come on here and starting up thread calling the team names like this in the titles, especially after a win. I am not your Daddy, do whatever you want, but I am going to tell you it makes you and our fan base look bad when you post this kind of garbage... Great job. Keep it up, and keep trying to justify it by comparing it to much less abrasive posts made in the past by other forum members who were actually venting frustrations AFTER A LOSS, because that makes a lot of sense. Well it was really just a joke. I apologize for upsetting you to this degree. It certainly wasn't my intent. I don't really agree with much of what you are saying but I digress.

If that was a joke, you need to reevaluate your sense of humor. A joke is, like, funny. Somehow the image of legless midgets didn't exactly do it for me.

Re: Two legless midgets fighting in an empty arena

Saying we are a bad team? Isn't that beating a dead horse at this point?

Re: Two legless midgets fighting in an empty arena

Some people are way to sensitive. Yes this team is awful especially offense but my question is why have we gotten worse through the season ? I was expecting us to get better especially with the young guys. The team that played tonight looks nothing like the team that beat clemson .

Re: Two legless midgets fighting in an empty arena

Have to admit, even though we won we looked awful. We are a dreadful team on offense and we have regressed during season. The question is why have we regressed?

How can you look as good as we did early in season and now look like you don't have a clue? Outside of Carrera we look like we have no passion or fire for the game.

I like Coach Martin but my feeling is the constant glares and negativity wears kids out and as season goes along they are mentally drained. Hope this is not the case but we don't look nearly the same as we did early in year.

Re: Two legless midgets fighting in an empty arena

Lots of folks have said lack of leadership is the issue. If that is the case, I think Martin's abrasive style is at least partly to blame. Anytime a player screws up, he goes berserk. Those are teachable moments, and I think the (game time) lessons are lost on most of the team. I don't know what happens at practice. During his post game press conference following the FL loss, which was our first loss in several games, Martin did say something to the effect of, they aren't going to like me in practice and I'm going to be the chemo in reference to selfish play being a cancer. I was very disappointed to hear those comments.

I've said before I don't like Martin's court side demeanor. It shows lack of personal control. I'm not a "fire coach" type person. Martin has many fine qualities as a coach, he truly cares about developing young men; he knows the game extremely well, including how to exploit an opponent's weakness; he successfully taught our players how to play good defense.

I sincerely hope he finds a way to temper his emotion, so players can learn more from those teachable moments. Some of those players may even develop into leaders.

Go Gamecocks!

I think what bothers me the most about his courtside antics is that he only seems to have that one mode. That works with some kids and not with others. Now, maybe he only recruits kids who can handle it... I really don't know. But I've seen certain players who look like they are emotionally shutting down while he is in their face and I wouldn't think that helps their game. Great coaches, like great teachers, to know their kids buttons and which ones to push. He can still prove the naysayers wrong and I hope he does... but he probably only has a couple of seasons more in which to do it.
