I was proud of the girls last night. They tried their best, but you are not going to roll into Storrs and just take what has been theirs for the last 20 years. UCONN took the "we are going to show you" attitude and they were the better team. Proud of my home state team and my alma mater. Can't wait to see these teams in the final four.

Most of you don't know about women's basketball and the history of UCONN, but you are talking about a team in the last 10 years that has gone 311 wins and 30 losses, 4 undefeated seasons, 4 or 5 championships, 7 final fours 2 elite 8's and a sweet 16. Incredible dominance, 9 national championships in the last 20 years.

We are just starting to build a history like that, but to be the best, you have to beat the best! UCONN started it 20 years ago, beating Tennessee regularly and now we have to do the same.

We have a long ways to go to beat UConn. Its amazing that all the McDonald's all-americans we have and still get beat the way we did last night.

I wasn't surprised as I've watched UConn over the years and I'm very familiar with their program. However, I was hopeful there would be signs that we've closed the gap. There were no signs last night that we have.

Coach Staley has to find outside shooters to balance out the offense.

They're coach is 900-134 (or maybe 901-134 after last night, not sure. That says it all imo. Incredible program. Got to be one of the top 10 programs in any sport ever.

I think they should change the name to Scores, CT. They can shoot! I think that's what we're missing most on both men's and women's teams are consistent OUTSIDE shooters. But, at least the women can score inside...unless they're playing UConn of course.

UConn's entire team is made up of High School All-Americans. They have a legendary coach and they played at home. They hit 60% from the field and an insane 83% from beyond the arc. They had that 19-2 run to make it 37-20 and we couldn't muster a run. That was the difference.

We controlled the boards and had more shots. On a neutral site, I feel that this game is a 5-6 point game either way... depends on the team with the hot hand, and last night that was Connecticut. They are an unbelievable team.

Next season when Wilson and Cuevas have that year's experience, we will be a better team. Tina Roy last night just didn't have it and we need amazing point play in bball to win the big games.

Our ladies will get there. Although I was hoping for better, usually we learn more from losses and setbacks , in life as well as basketball. Our team shall return!!

1. We played this year's team and not all those other teams in the past. History is a predictor but not a definer.

2. They shot very well and may not do as well the next time we play them.

3. They had set plays that worked and we often sat back and wondered what to do next. We got beat by a team of well trained players and we have often won by using individual strengths that overpowered the other opponents. That's a weakness that Coach Staley (I'm sure) has been working on but it was obvious to me that we have a ways to go.

4. Coach Staley is learning how to be an even better coach and watches what these other great coaches do. It will take a while for our players to absorb and know what to do from the buzzer at the first game of the year. Sure, we have a great freshman in Wilson but we have yet to have a whole team as good as Wilson, playing together as long, and having game experience against great teams. Maybe we'll schedule more teams like UConn and Stanford in the next few years. The SEC is good but we'll need to get ready for the NCAA Tournament by playing the best in the nation and not just the SEC teams and small OOC teams.
