A hop and a skip from the Lake Murray dam
he needs a good azz chewing!!!! Did anyone else see jackleg out on THE FIELD OF PLAY during that high pop up that we let drop, then threw their runner out at first because he didn't run the base out??? That's against the rules, is it not??? WHY do the ump's let him get away with that crap????

What he did last year was a TON worse

Ran home and tapped his catcher on the shoulder to tell him to throw it to 2nd, WHILE the game was going on and ball in play.

It's Jack's world, we just live in it.

He will not change until the umps do something about it

Yeah, he was between the lines during the play. By the time he caught himself it was too late. I wonder what the rule is? I kind of with we had meaner players that would have got in his face about it, made the umpire rule on it.

I think this would be the rule that covers it:

Rule 3 Section 3

b. At the time of the pitch, the base coach may not be closer to the foul line
than the inside edge of the coaches' box and no closer to home plate than
the front edge of the box (see also Rule 2-6, Base Coach). A coach may leave
the coach's box to signal the player to slide or advance or return to a base as
long as the individual does not interfere with the play.

c. Base coaches may address only their team members.

d. A base coach may not use language that will reflect negatively upon the
players, umpires or spectators.

PENALTY for b., c. and d.-Ejection from game after a warning

2015-2016 Baseball Rule Book

Ray would have quietly gone over to the ump, told him the rules, and that he expected him to enforce the rules, and that would take care of it. Chad ain't Ray...got a little learning to do...but so did Ray at that stage in his career.

Thanks for posting the rule. jackleg should have been ejected, not only in the game last night, but also in the game last year when he tapped his player standing at home plate on the shoulder to alert him that our runner on first was trying to take second base. jackleg seems to think that he can just go anywhere he wants to while the ball is in play and nothing will be said. I hope the next time it happens, somebody will point it out to the umps.

he spends the whole week winding himself up on the flip side of a barstool then lets loose like mad man. unfortunately for the weather he might break even this weekend.

It would be a delayed dead ball if he went onto the field during a play. If he doesn't interfere then there is nothing on the play. However when the play is over the Umpire, if he noticed it, should issue a warning. The next offense sends him to the dugout or he can be ejected without warning. Its the Umpires judgement on confining him to the dugout or a straight out ejection from the game.

The ejection would also carry with it a fine per rule of the NCAA and/or the conference.

If in the Umpires judgement his being on the field during a live play interfered with the play in any manner then the Umpire may award bases to the runners as they see fit. One, two, three or more...Its the Umpires judgement at that point as to what the results of the interference were....

In either case a warning at a minimum is warranted and, as stated earlier, he is restricted to the dugout or ejected for further violation....

Best part was USC won anyway
The player on 3rd that pumped his fist to taunt the player sliding should have been immediately ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.....

I suspect the supervising official for the crew that were there discussed these two events with the crew.

according to that rule he would have to do it twice in 1 game to get ejected and the play last year was at 3rd.
