Marcus Satterfield and Clayton White set to meet with the media around 12:30 p.m. Updates will be in this post so all you have to do is refresh it. Satterfield first, White following him.

Marcus Satterfield

--Offensive game plan obviously changed a little with Doty banged up. Said in a grand scheme it doesn't change but said in how they attack defenses changes a little bit.

--Said Doty is in good spirits, and he hasn't missed any meetings. He's watching practice.

--Jason Brown's "stepped up" and "looks totally different" from a physical standpoint. He had a wonderful summer and has a little bit more ability and can extend/create plays. He's got a good mindset and is in a great place.

--Asked about Zeb Noland, said he helped draw the playbook up on the computer. He's smart and "been around the block a little bit." Said there hasn't' been a huge transition. Now just has to transition from coaching with the receivers to being in the huddle and throwing the ball. He "really has not skipped a beat."

--Wants to know who to start "as soon as possible." Said whoever handles the situation and command the tempo of a game will be big. Said they're not looking for someone to try and win the Heisman, but needs to command the offense. Said he and coach Beamer will talk but wants to name things "as soon as possible."

--On Zeb Noland potentially playing in the opener: "It's potentially there. It's in the air." Mentions they've thought about doing this before Doty's injury and wanted to add him in for depth purposes. Noland had been running and lifting before going through practice.

--Coming out of the scrimmage, they need to protect the ball a little bit better. Need to execute a lot better and "not beat ourselves." Mentions quarterback is a little young and they're relying heavily on the offensive line to set the tone and they've never been asked to do that and have gotten better recently.

--They "don't really have a number one right now." Said they're spreading out reps right now. They have "to get this done quick." They don't have time to wait and need to name a starter soon and don't want things to linger.

--EJ Jenkins was at practice today.

--Asked how realistic Doty is available for the opener, said he doesn't know and they're not going to try and push him and injury linger longer than it needs to.

--Quarterbacks need to take care of the football and value the football. They can be young and play but need to be mature and be able to communicate and control the tempo. These guys on the roster are "really not flinching" in what Satterfield is asking them to do.

--DK Joyner is standing out from a receiver position. "You have to pull him back." Mentions he goes 100 miles per hour in everything in practice and doing a "tremendous job." Josh Vann has shot up Satterfield's ranks coming out of the spring. He's really attacking the toughness aspect of the game.

--Joyner's always getting two or three QB reps a day because he's a "really good" athlete. They can do a lot of different things in this offense. Said he has a demeanor, a presence and a control of the offense. Drew a comparison to Randall Cobb having to play QB at Kentucky. Joyner's role is going to continue to grow.

--Wants five receivers going into a game and thinks they have six or seven right now.

--Juju McDowell's had a tremendous camp so far. He's "flashed" and is a really tough kid with some football intelligence. He soaks in a lot of the information and needs to continue to develop the way he needs to develop.

--MarShawn Lloyd continues to build a lot of confidence each rep. He's handling contact well.

--Ahmarean Brown was out there and practice today. He was out a little due to COVID protocols. He's "fighting his way back up."

--Said the offense "wasn't great" outside of third down periods. Said guys were down after Doty and they're making progress coming off it. Mentions he's been part of good offenses that have had bad scrimmages.

--Mobility is huge at the quarterback position. Said a lot of the best quarterbacks in the world right now are mobile. If a guy isn't he better be able to stand back there and fire it.

--Doesn't know when they'll have a prognosis for Luke Doty. He assumes they'll have a better idea when Doty's cast comes off.

--Said they won't have any "silly boards" with big pictures on them to relay plays. They'll do some things from a hand signal perspective and do some wristband work as well. Said he thinks it'd be "great" to have a NFL-type of mic and headset to communicate with a quarterback.

--Harris said he's "ready to go" and just waiting to get cleared by the training staff.

--Satterfield, knocking on wood, says ZaQuandre White has done well protecting the ball. Said he's only fumbled the ball once this training camp and he "touches it a lot."

--They've started narrowing things down a little from an offensive game plan.

--Raves about the tight end position and said they're having to create personnel groupings to get EJ Jenkins on the field. Mentions Jaheim Bell has the chance to be a "special player" and Nick Muse is really consistent. Been impressed with Keveon Mullins as well and his athleticism.

That's a wrap from him, Clayton White coming up soon.

Clayton White

--Jokes it's been a "nice South Carolina August" and said he's excited to get things ramped up.

--Every play from an install perspective isn't in but they've installed each package and situation for players to experience. That'll continue through camp.

--Asked about turnovers, said Shane Beamer really harps on turnovers and either protecting the ball or getting it off defensively. They talk about it from a defensive perspective on when to be smart and not go for it and then when to be aggressive. Said it starts with Beamer and trickles down.

--They get play calls in a few different ways. The defensive tackles start the call, then one linebacker communicates with the defensive line, another with the secondary and the secondary is commanded by the safeties.

--Said they were fine from a communication standpoint in the scrimmage.

--From a leadership perspective: Aaron Sterling. Said some people may forget about him but he's the heart and soul of the defense. Said he takes every rep and grinds through camp. Said "if you're packing to go take care of some business, he's one you'd pack." White's been really proud of him.

--Asked about tackling, said he starts from scratch. They work on it through drills in the summer. Said they'd tackle twice a week in the summer with the biggest bags they could find. Said tackling and turnovers are things that will keep you in games.

--Said the secondary is developing and taking coaching really well. They understand they need everyone to step up and "come to the party ready to go."

--Said guys aren't missing practice for small bang ups. They want to be there and be part of installation. Mentions they go through situations in practice to have guys understand the why and the how of a call instead of just "drawing circles and drawing lines."

--Said the linebacker position is a "quiet position." He loves the way they're working and he's hard on them. Sherrod Greene, Brad Johnson and Damani Staley have a had good two weeks. Debo Williams and Mo Kaba have had two really good days of practice. Said Rosendo Louis has gotten better in camp as well.

--Mentions DK Joyner's broken a couple runs and they haven't caught him in the open field and the defense has some guys who can run. He's doing a good job leading the team through his actions from being willing to play on special teams and do a lot.

--Rick Sandidge is out and hopefully can get back sooner rather than later. It's a lower leg injury and the hope is he's back soon. He'd love to have "six-plus" guys you take into a game from a defensive tackle spot to use on defense and special teams.

--Carlins Platel has some flexibility who can play some corner and nickel and can stretch to safety at times as well.

--Gives a little grief to Jahmar Brown for his complexity comments. Said the meaning what it's fun and aggressive. They're always hurdles to learn the defense at the beginning but once guys break through that it's pretty easy and then they can get creative with it.

--Mentions he thinks the team is right on schedule for where he thought they'd be right now. Mentions there are a few more situations he wants to introduce but likes where they are.

--Going into the scrimmage he will use it as a big chance to evaluate guys and see what they're doing against live bullets.

--Marcellas Dial has the attitude of an older guy. He wants to work hard and be the last guy off the field. Mentions there was a practice where Jalen Brooks had a big day and Dial wasn't affected by it. He was back on the line pressing on bump and run coverage in individual work.

--The added weight from Jordan Strachan is really beneficial. That's going to help him in the run game. Said the next thing for him is to go through heavy rep counts and understand each play in practice and each meeting counts.

--Said the biggest thing for EJ Jenkins is to find him on the field. Said sometimes during 50-50 balls you just have to interfere and hope it's not called. He's a nice threat and Satterfield's doing a good job using him in the system.
