Talking to a two Vandy fans behind me in the Parents section behind the Gamecock dugout. They were pretty talkative and were not disrespectful but they said they got their tickets from a USC Board of Trustee, who said he didn't want to go to the game to watch his Gamecocks, so he gave his tickets to Vandy fans. Nice job. Maybe he can get a position on the Vandy BOT.

That's pretty sucky....but the Vandy recipients should have had enough class not to spout that kind of talk out within earshot of the home fans.

What section? Or row? Or seats???

That was classless from the USC Board of Trustee... Should have given to some Carolina fans...

Also, a telling sign that they must be fed up with Chad...

So, let me get this straight: They said a trustee gave them tickets, but they didn't name him, and you didn't ask his name, then post this on the message board and expect people to get riled up. That pretty much it?

Doesn't pass the smell test.

I am not going to post location. I sit in front of them all year, but some of the parents were getting annoyed. I quickly explained what section they were in and who sits there. I have no problem with people supporting their team but go support them in the third base section, there were plenty of seats available. And yes they were friends, but at least explain where the seats are and who sits there.

I finding this story hard to believe...

Anyone can post stuff like that with no proof, just to agitate fans...

hilarious. You conspiracy nuts think he cooked up this elaborate story to upset the folks on a message board?

You people who act as if its a crime to sell/give tix to opposing fans kill me. Its none of your biz and has zero effect on who wins. Grow up.

Yeah, you're right... Board of Trustee giving away tickets...

I wish they can give away some football tickets... They have been priced out of everyone price range...

I find it hard to believe that a BOT member would give the tickets to a friend that was a Vandy fan without at least saying "don't let anyone know you got the tickets from me, that would look bad even if you are my friends" or that his friends couldn't figure that out on their own....poppy cock.....

I had a BOT give me several tickets to the SC vs LSU football game at Baton Rouge several years. Those people on that board aren't giving tickets or selling tickets to the opposing fans team.
They will end up in the trash can before they end up in the opponent fans hands... that you can take to the bank

WRONG! It's no fun to have season tickets and get a bunch of loud obnoxious visiting GA or Clemson fans in your section.

That's how fights start in the stands and spending the night in the pokey is not fun... Not that I have done that, but I heard folks spend the night or two in the pokey with guys name Bubba and Bubba Jr...

Meh, people should give their tickets to whomever they want. Most people have a wide base of friends, and/or business associates, and throwing some tickets to a fan can be a nice gesture. And even they just gave the tix to opposing fans in the parking lot to build up good will, that should be fine.

Now selling or scalping to opposing fans is different and should be below a BOT member (especially for a baseball game). If a BOT member needs a couple of bucks that badly, I don't know if I want them making decisions for my university.

Though it sounds like in this case they were just given the tix.

I disagree. I thinks it's poor taste and disrespectful to your seat neighbors to give the to fans from the opposing team. Plenty iof Gamecocks would appreciate free tickets to most any event.

Last time I checked it is at least a partially free country. People can do what they want with the tickets. Now if you want to get into whether it is right or not, or poor taste and decorum, that is a completely different argument.

I've told people I didn't want to go to games before- but it was because I had other things to do. Some people don't want to explain their schedule to others and just say "I'm not going" etc...

It's silly to run to a message board and say something like this without knowing the truth or the context of what was done.

Come on. This is silly.

Well you're half right. If you own the tickets they're yours to give away, trade or sell as you please. I'm not sure why all rights go away with the ticket police. You aren't supposed to give to X, sell to Y and god forbid make your money back plus a profit.

Of course, the righteous ticket police are nowhere to be found at a low demand game to offer face value to another fellow fan. That's when they go missing.

This is not just some person....this is a supposed BOT member. I agree that the average person should be able to give them to whoever they want but a BOT member should only give them to a South Carolina fan. I am sure they know a few....

And doesn't this ^^^^ make YOU a conspiracy theorist as well?

This would be a bigger deal if there weren't 7000 seats available. It's not like there's some poor USC fan out there that was dying to go to the game but couldn't come across a ticket.

At last year's Friday night Clemsux game at Carolina Stadium, in the Athletic Department seats next to ours on Row 1, Sec 4 (right by our dugout mind you), was a family of Clemsux fans.
"Some" say these tickets BELONG to fans and they can give/sell to whomever they so choose. While that IS their "right", it is totally inconsiderate to those sitting around fans of the opponent - ESPECIALLY Clemson fans!!

The tickets next to ours belong to the Athletic Department. We regularly have former players and the like sitting in them. Let's just say when the Clemson family came and sat down that night, some calls were made that Monday morning. We haven't had opposing fans in them since.
