Are you serious??

Did you not watch last year? He never yanked DT. He yanked Matthews and Palmer and Weurffel and Garcia and even DT. Some of those guys win heismans and national titles. He never yanked DT last year and he was the worst of all of those. Why did he never yank him??? Because he knew how mad Mitch was. This spring proved that. It took him months to win the job and looked lost the entire game. The QB situation is a mess
If DT was the worst of all of those, how did he BREAK OUR SINGLE SEASON PASSING RECORD?!?

We will as long as Mitch isn't the qb in game 2.

You need to pick another nemesis. Mitch played fine after the first series. He had 3 or 4 balls dropped on him. He scrambled well. We all knew things were going to moving fast for someone making their first start in the first game of the year. He has some work to do, but he looks promising. You don't know jack about football. If you want to criticize SOS for his play calling, them I'm with you.

Good News: D throws a shutout in 2nd half! We had 4 sacks (14 all last year). 3 TO's. AND we are 1-0!

Bad News: Spurrier still calling stupid plays. Not much of a pass game.
Cannot really argue.., except... While some plays didn't work... Which ones were stupid? The only ONE I can think of is the 3rd and 1 where we ran it from the shot gun... Other than that.. Really clean game CALLED, poor execution especially early when nerves were clogging things up...

Honestly, SOS broke his own mold and STUCK WITH THE RUN when we needed him to, fought through MULTIPLE injuries by taking advantage of the strengths we could put on the field and when we needed to run 3-4 minutes off the clock he did it! BY RUNNING! He also figured out a weakness on the left side of their D after the half and exploited the Hell out of it the rest of the game! It wasn't his best called game but he did fight though some bumps in the road to WIN it.. How can we blame him for the poor plays we had? They were EXECUTION issues, not pay calling- again, all except the 3rd n 1 where we ran from the shotgun, IMO.

Welcome to my "this guy doesn't know shit" list. Just STFU, and go watch porn or something you are used to please. Thanks.

Ok dumbass.
You are a coach. You get to pick your QB.
Palmer, Wuerffel, Matthews, Garcia, Shaw, DT.

Who are you choosing???????

Maybe you could argue DT over Garcia because he was booted. You are a joke if you pick him over any of the others. I never said he was bad. I simply said he wasn't as good as the others. Guys who won national titles and heismans. Not a guy who started one year.

It was really nice of NC to not have Hood in on that series near the goal line. Posters, negative posters, on this site make it all but unreadable.

He never yanked Garcia btw... He started Shaw instead but never yanked him for performance, though he should have especially in that auburn game.

He did yank Garcia against Auburn...in 2010 after the two fumbles.

Not sure if I will be able to take Danny Kannell's dumb a$$ all season. As dumb an ACC homer as there ever was.

Spurrier will cost us at least 3 games this year with his playcalling.
As obnoxious as you were last night Bo (and it WAS PATHETIC) I am removing my responses cuz I was drunk and don't like what I said to you- nuthin but love man! Go Cocks!

you are calling someone else "dumb?"

bo

Yes. I am. Danny dumbass Kannell picked the CWS a couple of years ago to be 4 out of 8 ACC, including Clemson. That's the year Clemson barely made it to the tourney and got destroyed by Oregon by 18 runs.

And he will WIN us all the others with his play calling, RECRUITING, player development... You are so full of shit. What the Hell, is wrong with our fans- can't enjoy a victory? Still have to find shit to bitch about? WE WON, BECAUSE OF SPURRIER- SUCK IT YOU TROLL.

FLAME ON

GFY. You are f'ing blind.

That was the ugliest offensive I've seen since the 0 and 1 win seasons. We don't pay $4 million a year to have the defense win games for us while the offense looks like total crap. If you think we won BECUASE of Spurrier, you are dumber than a box of rocks.

And player development? Year ten and no viable QB. Plu-lease.

Bo, seriously dude. Let it go. We won. Enjoy it.

I'll enjoy the defense and the special team, but there was NOTHING to enjoy about that offense. Absolutely inexcusable. Poorly, poorly coached and horrendous playcalling.

WE COULD NOT EVEN GET A PLAY OFF TO START THE GAME. Stud running back and we are running Perry Orth up the middle on 4th and inches. So bad is was almost laughable.

Great win tonight!
Offense had some problems but in the end we got first downs to run the clock out, which we've struggled with. Lots of positives to take from this game. Lots to work on.
Go Cocks!

Yes, player development. Mitch played well after about the second series of the first half. He was not Peyton Manning, but he was ON TARGET with multiple deep balls that were dropped or broken up, and half the game he was fighting through multiple injuries- cramps, thumb jam on his throwing hand... His first start EVER, MULTIPLE injuries... And you expected... What exactly? A 50 point performance?

It wasn't poor playcalling but poor execution. The QB was a deer in the headlights. I will give him a bit more time to get comfortable but Mitch looked poor. When your QB ain't got it, you have to go with basic plays.

you post "poor"

Good win tonight for the good guys. Sketchy QB play, and defense gave up some big ones. But a win is a win. I certainly hope the game against Kentucky goes a bit more to plan. Skai Moore is a man out there, and bailed us out. I can't wait for next week!!

He scrambled well but couldn't pass worth a crap. Ugly passes nosing up most of the time.

Last year the defense struggled and this board was ready to lynch Ward. Spurrier puts an offense that looks like mass confusion of the field, and the jocksniffers are running to his defense.

Hypocrites.

d-bag comes here and calls our fans hypocrites

we must be doing something right

go cocks!

Yeah, special teams and defense.

You gonna be stupid enough to argue that?
Probably. I can't believe anyone could think the offense and play calling was anything but dull tonight... But whatever.

The defense now that's something to,get excited about... Even figured out a pass rush at the end.

Special teams too. Love seeing no returns on kickoffs. That is a very underrated weapon that people don't think about or appreciate.

Yeah agreed every time I saw the ball soar out of the end zone I was like man that's going to keep teams from hurting us like vandy did last year.

Reactions: Gamecock Lifer
The punter is lights out too, he's going to pin teams deep this year, they way he kicks it makes it hard to return. That will create fumbles.

I agree. Special teams took a huge step forward in every aspect.

On offense, we are going to have to be a run first team and let the QB be a game manager instead of the star. Not sure if Spurrier is capable of doing that.

Either that or give one of the other guys a shot. But I swear Mitch reminds me of tommy beecher.

What's he going to do when a good defense like lsu starts really hitting him. nocar was not a good D tonight. It could get,out of hand quick against a good D without a stable qb and solid choice to run the ball with the great backs we have.

I paid for 4 season tickets. So STFU.

And that was the dumbest football analysis I've ever seen. The offense was a complete train wreck. You must be a woman with that kind of analysis.

What did you think about the uniforms? Were they pretty? Stick to stupid shit like that, because if you can see a lot of positives with that offense, you shouldn't be talking about football.
Thanks. Nuthin but love for ya Bo!

agreed and i can promise you that "no one" called that fake punt....they gave kelly the option to make that choice and of course he made the right choice....kid looks like he will be a good one....even the one the announcers said it wasnt a good kick....looks like he meant to do it to me

Mitch looked better when he ran when the lanes were open. If he does that, the rest of the offense opens up. Cooper becomes harder to guard...Wilds and Williams get less attention. Especially when he hands off to them, fakes the hand off and keeps it. The next time, that DE, LB and CB on that side HAVE to watch Mitch...making the read option a "pick your poison" offense...

More Mitch scrambling = better Gamecock Offense.

As for the defense...much better run defense...our DBs are lost...but that's better than our DBs AND LBs being lost. Run defense is much more important for SEC play so if they can continue to get better, our offense will have more time to settle in.

I stick by my predictions...no less than 9 wins this year.

People forget that even Connor Shaw had very VERY ugly games...as long as he won, no one cared.

As for our opponent, they were CLEARLY much better than the average ACC team. Their QB was a very talented playmaker. Their WRs and RBs lived up to their billing. Their DEFENSE was outstanding! On par with UK/UF...maybe better than them. Chizik is a VERY good defensive coach. There's a reason he's one of the highest paid assistants in college football (if not the highest).

People complaining about Mitch are probably the same ones who touted Williams for UNC...Mitch - 0 INTs...Williams - 3 INTs.

As long as we settle down and run the ball and not force anything over the top, the offense will be fine. I don't expect us to average 30ppg...nor do we need to win 9 games. If we win ugly, I'll take it. As long as we win.
