After trailing by as many as 18 points, South Carolina showed the college basketball world why there’s no question why they're the No.1 ranked team in the land, defeating No.2 ranked Stanford 65-61.

Here’s my quick takeaways from tonight’s win for the Gamecocks.

NEVER GIVE UP
With 6:24 remaining in the second quarter, South Carolina trailed by 18. But in the second half, the Gamecocks held Stanford to just 19 points to rally back for the win. The 18-point comeback win is the largest in program history.

WELCOME BACK
In her first game back since getting injured on Nov. 29, Destanni Henderson finished with 17 points, seven steals, seven assists and three rebounds. Henderson, who prior to her injury led the Gamecocks in total minutes played, finished with the second-highest amount of minutes played tonight with just under 31 minutes.

SMILE BACK ON HER FACE
Anyone who watched last year’s semifinals against Stanford knows that one missed shot by Aliyah Boston isn’t what cost USC a chance from playing in the National Championship, but that video of her instant reaction in the final seconds is what was played over and over when South Carolina lost. Tonight, Boston walked off the court all smiles finishing with a game-high 18 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks and four steals.

STOPPING HULL
Stanford’s Lexie Hull couldn’t be stopped in the first half, scoring 14 of the Cardinals 42 first half points. But much like Stanford’s offense as a whole, USC took away the Cardinal’s best scorer and changed the game in a matter of minutes in the third quarter. Hull scored just three points in the second half, while Stanford, as a team, was limited to just 19 points.

BATTLE-TESTED
The win Tuesday night marked the fifth top-ten win this season for the Gamecocks, and their sixth against a top-15 ranked team. In addition, it was also their second win against a No.2 ranked team this season.
