Wait, what????

Their QB is definitely going to get that - the DJ kid. And probably a couple of others - you're dealing with some of the best and well-known college football players in the country. So it's not too far fetched. But places like clem and Bama are anomalies in the football world because they have dominated in recruiting and winning lately. These types of deals will not be the norm - pros rarely get those kind of deals.

They may not all be 6 figures, but you can bet your house that every recruit Clemson signs will have a lucrative NIL deal.

What concerns me is while Clemson is busy laying out stacks of cash, Ray Tanner will only offer our guys Jelly of the Month club subscriptions.

What Clemson is paying is a fraction of what Oregon is.

I couldn’t name a single player in that team. I’m in favor of NIL but why would anyone have some no name 19 year old be the face of their company?

Big names like Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, Tua, etc- I get that. But other lesser known players seem like a waste of $.

Because you're paying for our favorite team to be successful. You're not actually paying for promotional value.

I've said this before. Plenty of boosters were shelling out big buck with zero marketing return before, completely under the table. It's not about return on investment anywhere other than on the field.

The fans at Clemson pay the players straight up when they are allowed on the field after the game. The players can make more money from "tips" than they will make under NIL. One player said that all he did was hang around the star after the game, was given money, saved it, and used it as a down payment on his house.

It is a bit different now because, since it's above board, it's a great way for businesses to conspicuously signal their loyalty to the program. So while yes, in a vacuum many of these endorsements won't appear to justify the compensation paid, in the long run they may make more sense if they can help to enhance the businesses' reputation among Gamecock fans.

Not that it couldn't happen, but since this has not been reported anywhere, although we've heard about players from Michigan, TAMU and Miami already making deals....

I don't suppose anyone has considered that maybe this unnamed lineman is just throwing out some BS for the fun of it.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving, Clark.
