Way OT: Why is iceberg lettuce no longer a topping on hamburgers???

IDK, but I prefer the bigger leaf lettuce. It makes it easier for me to take off my burger. We never put it on a burger at home. But I will put tomato on.

No green on my burgers! Cheese, mushrooms, occasionally bacon, caramelized onions, and condiments.
Ooh do I have the condiment for you. I made onion bacon jam last week.
8 onions dice and caramelized(It took 4ever)
Then add
2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup real maple syrup
1 cup brown sugar
2 pounds cooked bacon crumbled
Reduce til it is a jam consistency

Soooo good

My wife hates iceberg and instead always gets greener lettuce that just seems to soft for me. I would choose iceberg anyday. Not sure why they aren’t using it unless it’s because iceberg is not locally sourced, organic, farm to table, hand torn, sustainable clean eats.

I’m an iceberg guy, but it has no nutritional value, while romaine, etc. actually has nutrients.
Or maybe romaine is more expensive per case(fact), so they can gauge a little more?

I far prefer iceberg for taste and crunchiness. Leafy lettuce, to me, can be sort of a nuisance. Iceberg lettuce must be taken from a fresh head and not allowed to degrade on the sandwich before the sandwich is eaten. The same can be said of the tomato. Otherwise, the sandwich becomes basically garbage.

Even the chains have switched to romaine or loose leaf; both of those wilt when they get heated. I like the crunch of iceberg.

Because of this joke of a fake news fabrication called global warming. The entire west coast of the United States is in a heat wave crisis. The majority of iceberg lettuce in the U.S. is grown in California, and is being hit hard. Prices are rising on purchasing iceberg lettuce as a result, and that's screwing up the profit margins on fast-food processed hamburgers, that have to keep their prices controlled while using food components whose costs are skyrocketing.....

First there was the porcine epidemic diarrhea, and now this......

Ohhhh, somebody wants to bang a drum.

Pipelines. Reservoirs (which already exist). Parts of the South and Midwest have been flooded already this year and are flooded every year. We could divert. Water management.

Glad I’m not the only one who envisioned this while reading the thread. The only real problem with the McDLT was the cheese was with the lettuce and tomato.

Right? As much thought as went into that and they put cold cheese in there?

I’m not quite sure how to read this. Are you blaming the lettuce shortage on global warming or is global warming a joke of the fake news?
