Rematch from earlier 77-60 win in Tuscaloosa. We were in Control
from the get go. Never really had a knockout run just systematically pulled away
What to expect from Bama
All 5 starter play over 30 minutes. Three play over 35. NO BENCH. Start 3 senior; Lewis, Walker and Copeland along with 2 juniors; Barber and Abrams.
The seniors all average over 15 ppg.
Lewis lit us up for 28 last game. Very strong physical guard who has range and can drive. We need to make her a shooter or a penetrator NOT BOTH.
Walker is 6’3” who can post and is an excellent 3pt shooter.
Copeland is their big and was throughly dominated by Boston on both ends of the court.
Barber and Abrams are support players who hit 3’s and distribute
Bama does a very good job of getting into the paint and scoring and drawing fouls. Top ten in free throws shot and made nationally. Top ft% in the league. OVER 81%.
On D play a match up zone that I am sure will try to make us beat them with the jumper.
They played a marshmallow noncon and are a tourney team but just not in our league, win by at least 10.
Couple of things to look for with us.
Expect some extended minutes for Eniya Russell. DS said she is not quite ready for them but we will need her in NCAA for bench strength. Hinted it just might be time to throw in the deep end of the pool. She is pleased with Littleton and wants her to have more minutes also.
DS also said that she was not surprised by Ark. beating UCONN. Said ARK is a nightmare matchup if you have never played them. She said speed, angles and spot up positions really a lot to take into account. Further stated that this why she schedules hard teams and looks for us to be exposed to all styles in noncon, so no surprises in NCAA.
She was also VERY complimentary of team’s prep for Bama. Instead of immediately going to film breakdown, asked the players what the game plan should be? Said they nailed EVERY point of emphasis on her list. Also said this is the best defensive team understanding conceptually she has had. That they relish the work it takes.
